It has just been revealed that right before marrying Meghan Markle on Saturday, Prince Harry had an “emotional” phone call with his ex-girlfriend Chelsy Davy.

Daily Mail reported that Harry called Chelsy after he learned that she had received an invitation to the ceremony but not the reception, which was held at Frogmore House. The conversation reportedly gave closure to the former couple, who dated from 2003 to 2010.

“It was their final call, a parting call in which they both acknowledged Harry was moving on,” a source said. “Chelsy was quite emotional about it all, she was in tears and almost didn’t go to the wedding. In the end, she went and promised Harry she wouldn’t try and gatecrash the party.”

Chelsy was seen arriving at the wedding with Cressida Bonas, another ex-girlfriend of Harry’s. The two exes were seen talking to each other throughout the ceremony as well.

Body language expert Judi James said that Chelsy’s feelings about the entire situation were clear by her behavior at the wedding.

“When she arrived, everyone else was chatting and laughing, but she sat in the pews just looking to one side – gazing reflectively into space and biting her lips slightly,” the expert said. “She was doing that at the end as well. It was almost the soap opera part of the ceremony.”

Chelsy and Harry have remained friends since their breakup, even attending Prince William’s wedding together in 2011. Born in Zimbabwe, Chelsy is now a lawyer working at the esteemed firm of Allen & Overy. She called the intense media scrutiny that came with dating Harry “scary” and “uncomfortable,” but she has also said that she and Harry “will always be friends.”

It couldn’t have been easy for Chelsy to attend the wedding of someone she dated for such a lengthy period of time. We applaud her for handling the situation with such grace, and we’re glad that she got some closure in her final phone call with Harry!
