Football legend OJ Simpson is most well-known for the high-profile murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. Simpson was acquitted in one of the most controversial trials in American history, but the former NFL star has not kept out of legal trouble since then.
8 years ago, Simpson was convicted of armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon after he tried to retrieve his sports memorabilia from a Las Vegas hotel room.
Simpson was sentenced to 33 years in prison, but as his prison term approaches its 9th year, he may be paroled early.
O.J. Simpson is going into a parole hearing with a clean prison record, and no one is expected to oppose his release https://t.co/XLqxn70sPW

Simpson, who is now 70, is seeking an early release, and no one, including his victim and former prosecutor, is opposing his release.
Four other men involved in the crimes took plea deals and were sentenced to probation, whereas Simpson received the harshest punishment.
In evaluating Simpson’s potential release, the parole board will consider his age, whether his conviction was for a violent crime, his previous criminal history, and his plans after release.
Back in 2013, Simpson received parole on some of the charges associated with his crime, including kidnapping, robbery, and burglary, leaving him with four years of the required nine years of his minimum sentence left to be served.
The question for Simpson is whether or not his history will weigh on the minds of the parole board. Despite being found not guilty, millions of Americans still believe Simpson to be guilty of the 1994 murders.
If Simpson is paroled, his freedom will likely create a media firestorm, as Simpson has remained fairly quiet ever since his acquittal in 1995.
