Snoop Dogg is stepping back into the world of film. He’s officially signing on for a major role in the upcoming boxing drama The Faith of Long Beach.

The Faith of Long Beach

The 54‑year‑old rap icon will appear alongside Nope star Brandon Perea in the project. It is written and directed by filmmaker Eric Amadio.

The movie centers on a quiet but gifted street fighter who grows up in a Long Beach group home and finds himself caught between two paths. There’s the violent world he’s trying to escape and the promising future waiting for him in professional boxing. As he attempts to leave behind backyard fights and follow in his father’s footsteps, he’s forced to confront the people, choices, and scars that shaped him.

Character-Driven Film

Amadio says the film is far more than a standard boxing story. For him, it’s a character‑driven drama about resilience, belief, and the people who refuse to give up on you even when you’ve given up on yourself.

He explained to Deadline, “This is a story about having faith in yourself when nobody else has any, and faith in the people who refuse to give up on you.”

The director says he knew immediately that Perea was the right choice to lead the film.

He said, “With Brandon, I knew instantly I had my nuanced, complicated fighter.”

“And with Snoop, I’ve got the authentic OG who’s seen every version of that kid and still bets on him anyway.”

Snoop’s exact role is being kept under wraps. However, Amadio hinted that the rapper’s real‑life connection to Long Beach – the city where he grew up and built his early career – makes his involvement especially meaningful.

He added, “It’s an honor to shine a long‑overdue cinematic spotlight on the city and people of Long Beach.”

Snoop Dogg has built a varied acting resume over the years. He’s appeared in everything from comedies to thrillers, including 2004’s Starsky and Hutch and 2001’s Training Day.

Perea leads the cast, and Amadio promises a gritty, emotional story rooted in real‑world struggles. The film will no doubt generate buzz as one of the more intriguing boxing dramas on the horizon.

Further casting details – including who Snoop will play – are expected to be announced as production moves forward.
