Shania Twain’s life story is officially Hollywood‑bound, with Sony Pictures developing a feature film titled Shania. The country‑pop legend herself is helping bring it to life.
Shania Twain Biopic
The studio has tapped writer‑director Leah McKendrick to lead the project, with Twain joining as a producer. McKendrick’s background as a singer‑songwriter reportedly helped her secure the job. She made no secret of her excitement when confirming the news online.
She wrote on Instagram, “Long before I was making movies, I was shooting Shania music videos in my bedroom.”
“This wild-hearted force of a woman means so much to me – and the world. It is a surreal dream come true to get to bring her trailblazing, gut-punching, awe-inspiring story to the screen (and ride horses and eat pasta in the process!) I am honored. … am humbled. I am READY. Let’s go, girls.”
Little Miss Twain
The biopic arrives at a pivotal moment for Twain, 60. She is preparing to release her seventh studio album, Little Miss Twain, on July 24. She’s described the record as her most introspective yet, with lead single Dirty Rosie offering a first glimpse of what’s to come.
Twain says the album digs deep into the years before fame reshaped her life.
She said, “A lot of Little Miss Twain is reflective of my teens, my roots as well as the energy of the rock and R’n’B I loved so much, but still with that Western twang.”
“Where I’m from you don’t go anywhere on a horse – you go on a snowmobile. I was dreaming about the Western lifestyle and I was living in a very different world than where I ended up.”
Upcoming Events

As for upcoming events, Twain will open for Harry Styles for a massive 12‑night run at Wembley Stadium, marking one of the biggest live moments of her career.
But before she hits stadiums, Twain is returning to her roots – literally. She’ll perform a one‑night‑only show at The Shacklewell Arms in East London on June 6, her first bar‑stage appearance in years. It’s a nod to the nights she spent singing in small venues in Timmins, Ontario, from the age of eight. This is the same era she revisits on Little Miss Twain.
