The legendary entertainer Pat Boone is not a big fan of what Hollywood is churning out these days, and he knows exactly what’s wrong.

Indeed, millions of Americans frustrated with the entertainment world will be able to relate to what he had to say!

Boone Sounds Off

Boone made a two-fold argument – first, that modern movies stink. Second, that there’s a huge opportunity for movies about family and faith.

“People waste millions making sordid, corrupt films that fail,” Boone, 90, told Fox News. “Once in a while they get big, to the sorrow of all of us. But if you want to make a successful, profitable film, make it family friendly, make it faith friendly, make it a good story, and do it well, and you’ve got a great shot.”

Boone said this while walking the red carpet at the MovieGuide Awards. He explained that he was eager to attend this event because unlike many awards shows, this one showcases “family films, faith-based films and prove[s] that they can make money, can be prosperous.”

Boone knows a thing or two about achieving success in the entertainment world. He’s been a household name since the 1950s, at one point even rivaling Elvis Presley in popularity at his career peak. Boone has sold millions of records and is known as one of the most prolific songwriters of all time.

Safe to say, he knows what the people want!

Boone Doubles Down

After so many years working in entertainment, however, Boone is disturbed by where Hollywood has gone today. He ultimately feels that Hollywood has gone so downhill that the current movies that are being made reflect badly on America as a whole.

After all, what is art but a reflection of the culture that made it? And what does today’s art say about America?

“We used to be the best commercial for America in the world, we made good films and we always made America look great,” Boone recalled. “We became the envy of the rest of the world.”

“But then, with films or television like Dallas and other films that made heroes out of people who were doing dastardly things, then we started creating more and more films [going] around the world showing America and the underbelly and the worst that we can be, and now we can deserve in some nations [to be] called ‘The Great Satan,'” he lamented.

“We gotta stop that,” Boone added. “We gotta start and continue to produce really good positive things that make people glad to be alive and not afraid to be or sorry to be alive.”

Boone Argues For More ‘Faith-Based Films’

Boone has been a devoted Christian for the entirety of his life. He firmly believes that Hollywood needs to start making more faith-based content if it wants to get back on track.

“I make movies and I sing and I do all the things I’ve done as a career because I like doing it,” Boone continued. “But, of course, you like it a lot better if it’s successful. But faith-based films, and even for that matter, music, television all does better with families in mind, if children are in mind, and if something in your heart communicates that you want the best and not the worst.”

“You won’t always make money doing whatever it takes, no, if you want to prosper, you want to prosper doing good,” he concluded. In the end, Boone believes that “it pays to find the goodness in our God-ness. It would be better if we’re godly.”

Boone is a true living legend, and there will never be another one like him. When it comes to entertainment, Boone knows what he’s talking about. That’s why Hollywood might want to take notice and start following the advice of Pat Boone!
