The 2025 Oscars are set to take place on Sunday night. In anticipation of this epic night, 20 actors are waiting to see which four of them will get to take home the coveted acting trophies. Let’s take a closer look at the acting races and see who the most likely winners will be!

Best Supporting Actress

When it comes to the Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress races, the winners appear to be locked. Nominated for Best Supporting Actor this year are: Yura Borisov (Anora), Kieran Culkin (A Real Pain), Edward Norton (A Complete Unknown), Guy Pearce (The Brutalist), and Jeremy Strong (The Apprentice).

Culkin is the most likely winner by far, as he has swept virtually every supporting actor award this season. Indeed, he has won the Golden Globe, the SAG, and the BAFTA for Best Supporting Actor, so it would be a massive shock if he doesn’t win the Oscar as well. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the next most likely winner is Borisov, but he has yet to win any major award this season and is likely a distant second.

Culkin is best known for his role on the television show Succession. He is the younger brother of Macauley Culkin, who he starred alongside with in the classic movie Home Alone.

Best Supporting Actress

The Best Supporting Actress category has also been swept by one person this season. The nominees there are: Monica Barbaro (A Complete Unknown), Ariana Grande (Wicked), Felicity Jones (The Brutalist), Isabella Rossellini (Conclave), and Zoe Saldaña (Emilia Pérez).

Like Culkin, Saldaña has won pretty much every Best Supporting Actress award this season. Just like him, she’s taken home the Golden Globe, the SAG, and the BAFTA. At this point, the only thing that could hurt Saldaña’s chances is the controversy that has surrounded Emilia Pérez as of late. However, it would still be a shock if Saldaña loses the Oscar.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the next most likely winner is Rossellini, who is the daughter of the late great Ingrid Bergman. Prior to this awards season, Saldaña was best known for starring in James Cameron’s Avatar movie series.

Best Actor

Now here’s where it gets interesting.

The Best Actor and Best Actress Oscars are slightly more up for grabs. The nominees for Best Actor are: Adrien Brody (The Brutalist), Timothée Chalamet (A Complete Unknown), Colman Domingo (Sing Sing), Ralph Fiennes (Conclave), and Sebastian Stan (The Apprentice).

Prior to the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards on Sunday night, Brody had dominated much of the awards season. Indeed, he had won the BAFTA, the Golden Globe, the Critics Choice Award, and more. That’s why it came as a huge surprise when Chalamet won the SAG Award two nights ago. This has led many to believe that the race is now between Brody and Chalamet. While Brody is still the frontrunner, Chalamet could prove to be a surprise winner.

Brody previously won the Best Actor Oscar for the 2002 movie The Pianist. Meanwhile, Chalamet was nominated for the Best Actor Oscar for 2017’s Call Me By Your Name.

Best Actress

Finally, there’s Best Actress, which is perhaps the most up in the air category this year. The nominees there are: Cynthia Erivo (Wicked), Karla Sofía Gascón (Emilia Pérez), Mikey Madison (Anora), Demi Moore (The Substance), and Fernanda Torres (I’m Still Here).

The most likely winner is arguably Moore. This awards season, Moore won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy. She also won the SAG and the Critics Choice Award, and more. Despite decades of working in Hollywood, Moore had never even been nominated for an Oscar before this year, so many would love to see her win.

Right on her heels, however, are Madison and Torres. Madison shocked everyone when she won the BAFTA for Best Actress. She also beat out Moore at the Independent Spirit Awards. On top of that, Moore’s movie Anora is widely considered to be the frontrunner to win Best Picture, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This means she could easily end up taking home the Oscar over Moore.

Then there’s Torres, who won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Drama. While she hasn’t been nominated for as many awards as Moore and Madison have this season, she’s received great critical praise for her work in this movie. This has led some to predict that Torres will be the one to take home the coveted Best Actress Oscar prize.

The Oscars will be airing on ABC at 7pm EST on Sunday. Be sure to tune in to see who the big winners will be!
