One of Clint Eastwood’s most beloved Westerns is set to be remade in Hollywood over sixty years after its original release.
Eastwood Classic ‘A Fistful Of Dollars’ To Be Remade
Eastwood’s classic “spaghetti western” A Fistful Of Dollars, which came out in 1964, is in development to be remade by Euro Gang Entertainment.
The original movie was directed by the legendary Sergio Leone. The Italian director was widely considered to be a pioneer in the “spaghetti western” genre.
Sadly, Leone will not be around to help out on this remake. He tragically died of a heart attack back in 1989 at the age of 60. However, Jolly Film, an Italian production company that helped back the original movie, has reportedly signed on to collaborate on the new version.
Eastwood was only 34 when he starred in A Fistful Of Dollars as the gunslinger known as the Man With No Name. This was a huge movie for him, as it marked his first role as a leading man.
No stars or writers have been tied to the remake. That being said, Eastwood is very much still around, should they want to utilize him.
At 94 years of age, Eastwood recently wrapped filming on what will reportedly his last directorial effort in film with Juror No. 2. Though he plans to retire, perhaps he’d be open to collaborating on a remake of one of his own beloved classics.

A Fistful Of Dollars
A Fistful Of Dollars tells the story of the Man With No Name after he arrives in a border town between the U.S. and Mexico.
There, he immediately begins causing chaos. He quickly inserts himself into a feud between two local smuggling families known as the Rojos and the Baxters. He ultimately takes advantage of the tensions between these feuding families to turn a profit for himself.
The original A Fistful Of Dollars was released in both English and Italian. It is unknown if the remake will also be released in one or both of these languages. The original was so successful that Eastwood and Leone teamed up to release two more sequels. The first sequel was For A Few Dollars More in 1965. It was followed by The Good, The Bad And The Ugly in 1966.

A Fistful Of Dollars Launched Eastwood’s Hollywood Career
A Fistful Of Dollars is widely considered to be Eastwood’s big break when it comes to Hollywood film roles. He’d gotten his start five years before as an actor on the western television series Rawhide. However, it’s A Fistful Of Dollars that turned him into a Hollywood leading man.

In the decades since the release of A Fistful Of Dollars, Eastwood has had a wildly successful career in Hollywood as an actor, director, writer, and more. While he’d planned to retire after the release of Juror No. 2, it’s certainly possible that he’d reconsider that if he was offered something pertaining to this remake.
