Last month, we reported that Warner Bros. was burying Juror #2. This came as a disturbing shock to fans, as Juror #2 is set to be the final movie that the 94 year-old Hollywood legend Clint Eastwood will direct.
Now, Eastwood has been vindicated, as an Oscar-winning director is speaking out to slam Warner Bros. for not doing enough to distribute this film. Indeed, The Shape Of Water director Guillermo Del Toro has a bone to pick with Warner Bros. after seeing just how good Eastwood’s final directorial effort really is.
Del Toro Sounds Off
“Went to the theatre to see Juror#2, Clint Eastwood’s latest film. We enjoyed it tremendously,” Del Toro wrote on social media. “Its – in some ways- his Crimes and Misdemeanors. The film is precisely and assuredly filmed and its Nicolas Hoult’s to lead.”
“The cast delivers beautifully and it has an ending that set the theatre abuzz- Its central dilemma reminded me of the quiet turmoil boiling under Dana Andrews in Preminger Noir of your choice (for me- Where The Sidewalk Ends) and it wrestles with it supported by a well-paced structure and well pondered twists.”
Not stopping there, Del Toro went on to question why Warner Bros. hasn’t given Juror#2 a bigger release in the U.S.
“Why was this not released wide in the states?” Del Toro asked. “We saw at the Grove with a significant crowd that was vocal and responsive all the way. I truly hope WB can hold it longer. Eastwood is a master filmmaker and the steady, unfussy craft reveals him still in great form. Go see it on the big screen!”
You don’t get much better of an endorsement than that!

Full Story: Clint Eastwood, 94, Hit With Crushing Blow As Warner Bros. Buries His Final Movie ‘Juror #2’
Warner Bros. Buries Juror #2
Juror #2 is to be the last movie that Eastwood will direct. It caps off an incredible Hollywood career that spans seven decades and countless hits – even several classics. Eastwood has directed two Best Picture winners at the Oscars, 1992’s Unforgiven and 2004’s Million Dollar Baby. He’s also made countless other movies that have entranced audiences for generations.
That’s why many felt that it was a slap in the face to Eastwood when Warner Bros. elected to only put Juror #2 in 50 theaters.
It seems that despite Eastwood’s decades of success, studio executives at Warner Bros. no longer have faith in his abilities at such an advanced age. One source told Variety that they initially weren’t even going to release Juror No. 2 in theaters at all. Instead, they planned to send it right to streaming. Thankfully, they changed their minds at the last minute, but skeptics within the studio continued to fight against the film.
Another source explained that Juror #2 “emerged as a point of contention at the studio” in the wake of WarnerMedia’s merger with Discovery, Inc. CEO David Zaslav reportedly didn’t believe that the movie would turn a profit. He went so far as to question why it was even made in the first place, showing an insulting level of disrespect towards Eastwood.

Juror #2 Is Still Critically Acclaimed
Despite Warner Bros. efforts to bury Juror #2, the film is still earning rave reviews.
“It’s an injustice that duds like Joker: Folie a Deux and Megalopolis played on thousands of screens around the country while Clint Eastwood’s engrossing new film about justice, Juror No. 2, will only grace 50,” Johnny Oleksinski wrote for The New York Post.
“The swell courtroom drama could very well be the 94-year-old Million Dollar Baby director’s swan song, though he hasn’t said as much,” he continued. “And why should the gunslinger jump the gun? The man still knows how to make a damn good movie. How bizarre that most audiences will have to wait for the streaming debut to see Eastwood’s film.”
After so many years of success in Hollywood, Eastwood deserves better for his final movie. We applaud Del Toro for stepping up to encourage others to see this incredible film!
