The world was stunned earlier this month when a judge dismissed Alec Baldwin’s involuntary manslaughter case. Now, jurors in the case are speaking out to reveal what really happened before the dismissal.

Baldwin Jurors Speak Out

Jurors Johanna Haag and Gabriela Picayo admitted to The New York Times that they were each having doubts about the case against Baldwin’s culpability before it was dismissed.

“As the week went by … it didn’t seem like a very strong case,” said Haag, who was referred to as juror No. 7.

Picayo, who was juror No. 9, explained that she was “obviously trying to stay unbiased” throughout the proceedings. However, she concluded that Baldwin, 66, “should not be on trial” after she was told that the Rust armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was convicted of involuntary manslaughter.

Haag was struck by Baldwin’s “shocked and stunned” demeanor. This led her to believe that the on-set shooting was “clearly an accident.”

Hutchins was killed and director Joel Souza was injured when a gun that Baldwin was holding went off on the Rust set back in October of 2021. Picayo pointed out that it never seemed like Baldwin was an expert on gun safety.

“I think he would have trusted the people, you know, on the set to do their job,” she said.

Baldwin’s Involuntary Manslaughter Case Dismissed

This comes after the First Judicial District Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer dismissed the involuntary manslaughter case against Baldwin on July 12. She did this after the actor’s attorneys argued that prosecutors may have buried evidence that was related to the shooting. Judge Sommer dismissed the case without prejudice, meaning Baldwin cannot be charged again.

Had he been convicted, Baldwin was facing up to 18 months in prison.

“There are too many people who have supported me to thank just now,” Baldwin wrote on Instagram the next day. “To all of you, you will never know how much I appreciate your kindness toward my family.”

A source close to Baldwin claimed that he and his wife Hilaria, 40 “did not celebrate” the case being dismissed.

“Despite the ruling, it’s still a devastating situation,” the insider told US Weekly. “They are not planning to celebrate. This has been a private family moment for them with an overall feeling of relief, but they know more lies ahead.”

“It’s been a sad situation, and there is no winning here,” another source added to People Magazine. “They were very worried and are grateful now that they are able to spend the rest of the summer with their kids.”

Baldwin’s First Red Carpet Appearance

On Saturday, Baldwin and Hilaria made their first red carpet appearance since the case was dismissed. They walked the red carpet at a screening of the movieWar Game. This was part of the Hamptons International Film Festival’s SummerDocs series in East Hampton, New York.

Baldwin was all smiles as he wore a dark blue jacket, light blue shirt, gray pants and brown shoes. His wife also seemed relaxed as she dazzled in a light pink fitted dress and cream stiletto heels.

It should be noted that while the criminal case against Baldwin has been dismissed, he is still facing civil suits pertaining to Hutchins’ death. It remains to be seen how those will turn out for him.
