Miami-Dade-shooting

Two Miami-Dade police officers were shot in an ambush last evening.

The officers were investigating an incident at the Annie Coleman Apartments in the county’s north side.

The two officers, part of the Homicide Task Force-Gang Unit, were in plainclothes when they were caught in what police are describing as “an ambush-style” shooting.

CBS News Manuel Bojorquez reported the officers were “conducting surveillance inside an unmarked car when they were targeted.”

Fellow officers transported their wounded colleagues to Jackson Memorial Hospital in the back of a pickup truck.

They were treated for wounds, and are currently in stable condition. The extent of their injuries is currently unknown.

The suspect is still at large:

This is going to ignite a bigger fire in us to protect our citizens.”
