On Saturday, June 28, at FuelFest in Southern California, Vin Diesel surprised the crowd by saying that the final Fast & Furious movie will be hitting theaters in April 2027.

The Fast & Furious franchise is one of the most beloved action franchises, as it revolves around street racing, heists, and spies. The film is based on the 1998 Vibe magazine article Racer X by Ken Li. Since the initial release in 2001, there have been 13 movies that followed the franchise, with the latest one being Fast X, which was released in 2023.

Diesel, who has starred in all but one installment, broke the news, confirming information about the final Fast & Furious film.
“The studio said to me, ‘Vin, can we please have the finale of Fast and Furious [in] April 2027,'” Diesel began. “I said, ‘Under three conditions.'”
“First, it is to bring the franchise back to L.A.! The second thing was to return to the car culture, to the street racing. The third thing was reuniting Dom and Brian O’Connor,” Diesel said, referring to the character previously portrayed by the late Paul Walker, who starred in six franchise installments before he was killed in a car crash in November 2013 at age 40.
While Diesel didn’t share how the franchise was going to bring back his character, the 2015 installment of Fast & Furious 7 used CGI, doubles, and Walker’s brothers, Caleb and Cody, as stand-ins to give the late actor’s character a proper sendoff.

Diesel shared that, after the devastating L.A. wildfires, keeping the production in town is vital, saying, “Los Angeles needs it now more than ever… Los Angeles is where Fast & Furious started filming 25 years ago… and now Fast will finally return home.”
While the film doesn’t have an official release date yet, the hope is that the franchise will be in theaters around April 2027 for its last ride.
