The song is one of the most acclaimed and successful rap songs of all time, reaching #1 on the charts in 12 countries, while later being named to Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Songs list.

The documentary received a four-day theatrical run on AMC screens, but is now heading to streaming platforms at home, set to release on August 25, 2025, on Paramount+.

Stan is one of the most unconventional songs ever written, where the story is mostly told from a fan’s perspective, so this film was an incredible opportunity to find a unique approach,” The film director Steven Leckart said in a statement.

“We kept coming back to one lyric from the song: ‘I’m just like you.’ Fans who echo that same sentiment carry much of the film. But like the song, Marshall’s perspective was also essential to the movie. I’m grateful for just how candid, sincere, and frequently hilarious he was.”

Leckart is also known for his work with Challenger: The Final Flight and Legacy: The True Story of the LA Lakers. The documentary is also produced by Eminem himself.
