The country music star Blake Shelton has scored himself a role in a future Mark Wahlberg movie, and he did so in a very unusual way!

Shelton Snags Wahlberg Movie Role

On Friday night, Shelton was honored for his philanthropic work at the 27th annual Power of Love Gala hosted by Keep Memory Alive, which is an organization that raises money for brain disorder research and support. The evening included a live auction that saw Shelton, 47, successfully bid $40,000 on a walk-on role in a future Wahlberg movie!

“I don’t know if you guys saw the auction earlier. This is maybe the last time I’m ever gonna perform country music,” Shelton later joked, according to People Magazine. “I’m a movie star now. I’m not f—— around.”

Fox News reported that Wahlberg, 52, has produced six of his own movies that he has also starred in, and he has several more movies currently in the works, according to his IMDB page. He’s been active with Keep Memory Alive in the past, as during last year’s gala, attendees had the chance to bid on a golf outing with Wahlberg.

Shelton Performs At Gala

Shelton performed three songs during Friday night’s event, taking the stage to sing “Sweet Caroline,” “Ole Red” and “Sangria,” according to Entertainment Tonight. He then invited his wife Gwen Stefani, who he’s been married to for three years, to join him onstage to perform their duet “Nobody But You” with him.

“His heart is as big as his voice,” Stefani gushed of her husband. “His talent is obvious and he lights up the room and brings a smile to everyone he meets that makes us all love him so much.”

Stefani went on to talk about just how giving Shelton really is.

“He supports veterans,” she continued. “He supports children’s hospitals, food banks, supports people with disabilities, disaster relief efforts, wildlife conservation or local communities in need, Blake’s generosity is genuine and endless.”

Shelton and Stefani clearly had a blast at the Las Vegas event, as she took to Instagram to post a photo of. the couple grinning ear to ear.

Shelton Leaves ‘The Voice’

Shelton will have some time to devote to his upcoming film role, as he left “The Voice” last year after spending 23 seasons as a coach on the show. Recently reflecting on this decision, Shelton said that “every day feels a little bit better, adding “I feel better about that decision.”

Shelton and Stefani started dating when she joined “The Voice” in 2014. At the time, they were each married to other singers, with him being married to country music star Miranda Lambert and her being married to Gavin Rossdale, who is the father of her three sons.

By the next year, however, Shelton and Stefani were divorced, and they have been inseparable ever since. It certainly wouldn’t be a surprise if Wahlberg decides to cast Stefani in his movie as well, now that he has Shelton locked in!
