The legendary broadcaster Barbara Walters finally has a documentary following her groundbreaking career and personal life as she made history as a woman in a male-dominated field. Walters says that she “also reflects on the high price of fame and the legacy she hoped to inspire.”

“ABC News broke new ground by hiring Barbara and putting a woman at the anchor desk, which was the exclusive preserve of men,” said David Sloan, senior executive producer, ABC News. “Her road was filled with peril and naysayers, and navigating that was not without personal costs. Nevertheless, Barbara created a dazzling career that had no blueprint and changed broadcast journalism forever.”

“My hope for the film is that audiences feel they get to know the real Barbara, in all her complexities – her private struggles and her public triumphs,” says Jesko. “Barbara stayed a television fixture for five decades, battling rampant sexism, fierce competition, and a constantly evolving media landscape.”

In 1976, Walters became the first female co-anchor of an evening news program and went on to produce and co-host 20/20 as well as The View, a show she also helped create. Unfortunately, Walters died at 93 in 2022.

The documentary is full of interesting information, including never-before-seen footage from ABC’s archives, interviews with The Post’s Cindy Adams, Joy Behar, Connie Chung, Martin Clancy, Andy Cohen, Oprah Winfrey, and many more.
