It was previously reported that the media mogul Oprah Winfrey, 70, was rushed to the hospital with a “very serious” stomach issue. Now, Oprah’s best friend Gayle King is speaking out to give an update on her health.

King Claims ‘Oprah Is Fine’

It was King, 69, who revealed Oprah’s hospitalization to the world on CBS This Morning earlier in the week. King has since taken to Instagram to give fans an update on the situation. She posted a photo of herself wearing a black T-shirt that had a clear message on it.

“Oprah is fine!” the shirt read. “Thank you for asking. She appreciates your concern!”

King added in the caption, “Just got back to the office and 10 people asked me the same question…here’s the answer! And swipe left!”

King Revealed Oprah’s ‘Very Serious’ Stomach Issue

King revealed Oprah’s health problem when she kicked off an Oprah’s Book Club segment. She opened it by explaining to “Familiaris” author David Wroblewski why Oprah couldn’t be there that morning.

“I’m so glad you are here and I’m so sorry that Oprah can’t,” King said. “Yesterday she said, ‘I’m gonna rally, I’m gonna rally.’ She had some kind of stomach flu where stuff was coming out of both ends.”

“I won’t get too graphic,” she continued. “But needless to say, she ended up in the hospital [for] dehydration and had to get an IV. It was a very serious thing. She’s OK… she will be OK.”

King immediately seemed to notice that she may have revealed way too many details about her friend’s condition.

“I hope she’s not mad at me for sharing that detail,” King added. “I wanted to make it clear though it mattered to her and it really bothered her that she couldn’t be here today, but we will pick up the slack.”

King FaceTime’s Oprah To Express Regret

King’s regret was evident when she took to Instagram once again to post video of her FaceTiming with Oprah from her office. The video kicked off with her admitting that she’d told viewers that Oprah had stuff “coming out of both ends.”

“Were you offended because I said what I said about what happened and how you’re recovering?” she asked, adding that she “really didn’t think it was a big deal or something that would be upsetting to you, otherwise I never would have said it.”

“I know you wouldn’t,” Oprah replied. “I thought what you were trying to do was explain why I wasn’t there and [you were trying to] do that in a definitive way.”

King explained that she was trying to make it clear that Oprah would never have missed the segment unless something dire was happening.

“The point I was trying to make, America, was that it had to be something that would keep her from getting on a plane and coming,” she said.

Oprah ‘Went To The Emergency Room’

Oprah chimed back in to explain her condition, saying that she’d been getting tons of calls and emails asking if she was alright.

“I couldn’t keep enough water down to get hydrated,” she stated. “I went to the emergency room for that and that’s just it.”

Oprah has been on an Ozempic-type weight loss drug for the past few months. This has led to speculation that her stomach issue could have stemmed from that. Oprah, however, appears to think what she had was just a bad stomach virus.
