Tina Louise has been the sole surviving cast-member of Gilligan’s Island ever since the 2020 death of Dawn Wells. Though she’s now 91 years-0ld, Louise has no plans to retire. In fact, she wants it to be known that she’s still open to whatever film and television opportunities that may come her way.

Louise Refuses To Retire

Louise is best known for playing “The Movie Star” Ginger Grant on Gilligan’s Island from 1964 until 1967. Though it’s been nearly sixty years since Gilligan’s Island ended, the show is still beloved by millions of fans to this day.

Louise has continued to act in the decades since Gilligan’s Island ended. In a new interview, Louise opened up about why she has no plans to ever retire from acting.

“I don’t really have an agent,” Louise, 91, told Forbes when asked if she wants to keep acting. “Yes, I would – but it’s like dreaming will not make it so. I don’t think people come to find you, but if somebody asked me to do something that I wanted to do – that I found some reason to do – I would want to do it.”

“I just don’t have representation in that area, but I mean, I can be found,” she continued. “I think it’s pointless to have an agent. Why would they do that at this point? I’m open to doing work. I just take one day at a time and I’m doing what I want to do.”

Louise’s Lengthy Career In Hollywood

Unlike her Gilligan’s Island co-stars, Louise never returned for any of the show’s many spinoffs or sequels. Instead, Louise focused on building an acting resume that saw her play a variety of roles. Indeed, she’s accumulated an impressive 86 film and television credits, according to her IMDB page.

In film, Louise notably starred in the 1975 feminist horror classic The Stepford Wives. Meanwhile, her television credits include episodes of iconic shows like IronsideKojakDallas and The Love Boat. Louise’s most recent acting appearance came in the 2019 faith-based movie Tapestry.

Louise Is Still As Fit As Ever At 91

Though she’s now 91, Louise is still as fit as ever. In her latest interview, she made it clear that fitness is something that she prioritizes on a daily basis.

“When I want to go to the gym, when it’s warm enough to walk up there, then I go there,” the New York City-native explained. “Otherwise, I do a lot of walking. Usually, I like to walk at least a minimum of a mile a day, but a lot of days, I walk over two miles. My daughter told me I had to stay alive. I’m careful about what I eat. I have a lot of plant meals, but I would not call myself a vegetarian.”

When asked what legacy she’d like to leave behind, Louise was quick to shut that down. Indeed, she made it clear that even at 91 years of age, she has no intention of going anywhere anytime soon.

“No, no! My daughter said I had to live 40 years, so I’m going to do the best I can,” Louise concluded. “I’m not thinking about leaving. I don’t think of that. I don’t want to think about it. I’m running to stay healthy. I’m walking to the gym. I’m just thinking about staying alive for my family. I love being alive.”

Louise is a true legend, and there will never be another like her. In the end, “The Movie Star” Ginger Grant would be proud if she could see that the woman who brought her to life is refusing to retire from entertainment in her 90s.

God bless you, Tina Louise!
