Taylor Swift is celebrating her most recent album release, The Life of a Showgirl. But unfortunately, she’s not receiving the love that she might have expected. In promoting her album on BBC Radio 2, Taylor Swift responds to “shockingly offensive” assumptions about her future.

Host Scott Mills asked Swift about some theories that her fans were having. “Taylor, don’t tell me this is your last album,” Mills asked.

“What? No…” Swift replied, obviously taken aback.

“I just saw some fans going, ‘Well, she’s going to get married and then she’s going to have children,” Mills continued.

To which the megastar responded with, “That’s a shockingly offensive thing to say. It’s not why people get married— so they can quit their job. It’s also, like, music for me —”

Mills interjected, saying, “I think fans were just panicking.”

“Oh, I know, they love to panic sometimes, but I love the person that I am with because he loves what I do, and he loves how much I am fulfilled by making art and making music,” she said. “That’s the coolest thing about Travis. He is so passionate about what he does that me being passionate about what I do … it connects us.”

Continued Swift: “There’s no point in time where he’s going to be like, ‘I’m really upset that you’re still making the music … the music thing that I signed up for, that I know you love, I thought you were going to stop doing that …’ We both — as a living, as a job, as a passion — perform for three and a half hours in NFL stadiums.”

Swift just released her most recent album, The Life of a Showgirl, on October 3 with 12 songs, produced by Max Martin and Shellback, which have taken the internet by storm with mixed reviews.

Taylor’s recent album has already sold 304,000 copies since Friday, which completely outshone her last two studio albums, with 2024’s The Tortured Poets Department reaching 270,000 and 2022’s Midnights reaching 204,000 during the first week.

With that being said, Taylor Swift is on track to have the biggest-selling album of the year overall. Even so, the reviews are interesting, with many critics enjoying the playfulness and joy that Swift sings about, while others find that the album lacked a certain personality compared to her other albums.

But even with some fans disappointed, and others captivated by the release, Taylor Swift still proves that she’s not slowing down, even with her engagement with Travis Kelce.
