Meghan Markle and Prince Harry got some bad news this week when their Archewell Foundation was found to be “delinquent,” and subsequently banned from soliciting or spending any funds.
Archewell Foundation Found To Be ‘Delinquent’
Official documents obtained by Fox News show that the California Registry of Charities and Fundraisers has declared the Archewell Foundation to be “delinquent” for “failing to submit required annual report(s) and/or renewal fees.”
The document goes on to say that any “organization that is listed as delinquent is not in good standing and is prohibited from engaging in conduct for which registration is required, including soliciting or disbursing charitable funds.”
The documents also warn that Archewell may be hit with even more penalties that could include having its registration in the state of California either being suspended or revoked. In addition, the documents have revealed that the Archewell Foundation was granted IRS tax-exempt status, meaning that any contributions to the organization were tax-deductible.

Meghan And Harry Respond
Sources close to Meghan and Harry have since fired back by claiming to Daily Mail that the Archewell Foundation’s tax filings for 2022 were submitted in full accordance with U.S. laws. They also alleged that the California state filing, renewal and required payment were all sent to the Attorney General’s office on time and were tracked through the mail.
These sources claim that the delinquency notice was issued because the check had not been processed by the Attorney General’s Office. Archewell officials reportedly only became aware that the check hadn’t been processed when the delinquency notice was issued.
Meghan and Harry first registered Archewell with the California Registry of Charities and Fundraisers in July of 2021, with the organization’s stated goal being “to uplift and unite communities – local and global, online and offline – one act of compassion at a time.”
The Archewell summary went on to preach about “compassion,” describing this as the “defining cultural force of the 21st century.”
Meghan and Harry claimed to want to spread compassion and bring about “systemic change” through the work that Archewell would do. The official Archewell website doubles down on this by saying that its mission is to “show up, do good.”
“We meet the moment by showing up, taking action and using our unparalleled spotlight to uplift and unite communities – local and global – through acts of service and compassion,” the website adds.

Meghan And Harry’s Africa Visit
This comes as Meghan and Harry are coming off a high profile three-day visit to Abuja and Lagos in Nigeria that was widely seen as a royal tour in everything but name. They had been invited to Nigeria by the country’s chief of defense staff, the highest-ranking military official.
It was during this trip that the couple announced a partnership between Archewell and the Nigerian charity the Geanco Foundation, which promotes mental health awareness and helps young women who have been victims of terrorism by providing them with scholarships.

Meghan and Harry shocked the world in 2020 when they stepped down as senior royals and moved across the world to Southern California, launching the Archewell Foundation from there. It remains to be seen if they’ll be able to bounce back from this “delinquency” setback.
