Martin Lawrence is finally speaking out to address rumors about his health that stemmed from his appearance at the Bad Boys: Ride Or Die premiere earlier this month.

Concerns Over Lawrence’s Health

Video went viral last week showing Lawrence, 59, and his co-star Will Smith, 55, standing on top of a bus as they greeted fans. Some social media users claimed that it looked like Smith was guiding an unsteady Lawrence during this fan interaction.

Lawrence Responds

Now, Lawrence is firing back by trying to shut down any rumors about his potentially poor health. He claims that he is “fine.”

“I’m in God’s hands. I’m blessed,” he said on Tuesday morning, adding that he is “glad to be waking up every day.”

Lawrence then said that he is “all good. No need for people to be concerned.”

“I’m healthy as hell,” he later added. “Stop the rumors.”

Lawrence went on to explain that he only appeared unsteady because he was shocked by the size of the crowd that had gathered outside the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, according to The New York Post.

“I was like, oh, this is rock concert stuff,” he said. “What the hell is going on? For a movie? I was like, oh, my goodness.”

Lawrence’s Past Health Issue

Fans have good reason to worry about Lawrence’s health, however, as he has had some struggles in the past. Yahoo News reported that back in 1999, Lawrence was out for a jog in Los Angeles when he lost consciousness due to heat exhaustion.

Lawrence was subsequently in a coma that lasted three days. After he finally woke up in the hospital, doctors said that his condition was “critical but stable.”

“He’s becoming more and more responsive, and we’re very encouraged that he’s come out of his coma,” a hospital spokesperson told The Los Angeles Times afterwards. “But this is going to be a day-by-day thing. . . . We’ll know more as time goes on.”

Doctors said that Lawrence was suffering from kidney problems, and they were not sure if the issues would continue. In the decades since then, it appears that Lawrence hasn’t had any further public health struggles. If he’s had any health problems, he’s managed to deal with them privately.

Bad Boys: Ride Or Die

Bad Boys: Ride Or Die is the fourth movie in the Bad Boys franchise. The original Bad Boys came out in 1995, and two sequels followed in 2003 and 2020, respectively.

In the new movie, Lawrence and Smith reprise their roles of Miami detectives Marcus Burnett and Mike Lowrey. The film also stars Vanessa Hudgens, Eric Dane, Alexander Ludwig, Tasha Smith, Ioan Gruffudd, Tiffany Haddish, Paola Nuñez, Jacob Scipio and Melanie Liburd.

Over the weekend, Bad Boys: Ride or Die had a better-than-expected domestic opening of $56 million and $104.6 million globally, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It had been predicted that the film would open to $48-50 million, so it greatly defied expectations.

That will surely help to cheer Lawrence up after he had to respond to negative rumors about his own health!
