Rumors are swirling that Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are heading for divorce just two years after they finally got married. Now, sources are speaking out to give some insight as to why this split could be happening.
Rumors About Lopez And Affleck Divorce
“They can’t get on the same page [and] have been discussing divorce as an option,” one source told US Weekly.
Another insider claimed that as these divorce talks are happening, Lopez, 54, is trying to figure out what is next for her both personally and professionally.
“It has been really hard for her and she is trying to figure out her next act,” this source said. A third insider added, “Jennifer has been trying for months to make it work and is pushing to fix things.”
This comes weeks after a source claimed that Lopez and Affleck, 51, are selling their mansion in Los Angeles. This has reportedly only caused more issues in their marriage.
“Jennifer is distraught. She wants to sell their house off-market to try and get less attention surrounding it,” this source said. “Ben doesn’t care about the negative attention” because “he’s been through this before and it doesn’t faze him.”
Affleck Leaning On Others For Support
While Affleck tries to navigate this potential divorce, he’s reportedly been leaning on his best friend Matt Damon for support.
“Ben’s been leaning on Matt a lot lately when it comes to everything he’s going through with Jennifer,” the insider alleged. “Matt knows there isn’t much he can do aside from listening and just being there for Ben. He’ll always support his friend no matter what.”
Affleck has also allegedly been getting advice from his ex-wife Jennifer Garner, who he was married to from 2005 until they divorced in 2018. They are the parents of three children.
“Jennifer Garner is encouraging Ben to work on his marriage to Jen,” another source said last month. “She fully supports their relationship and wants nothing more than for him to be happy.”
Affleck and Lopez met in December of 2001 on the set of their movie Gigli. They became engaged the next year, only to shock fans by calling off their planned wedding in 2003 just days before it was set to take place.
Affleck and Lopez each went on to marry and divorce different people. While Affleck married Garner, Lopez married the singer Marc Anthony, staying with him from 2004 until they divorced in 2014. They had two children together.
Affleck Hates Attention – Lopez Loves It
One of the issues in Affleck and Lopez’s marriage may be how they each deal with fame. Lopez reportedly loves the attention. In contrast, Affleck wants to avoid attention like the plague.
“I also don’t like a lot of attention,” Affleck said earlier this week, according to People Magazine. “This why people see me [and] they’re like, ‘Well, this dude always mad…’ Because somebody has their camera and sticking to my face.”
“We went somewhere with [Jennifer]—I can’t remember because she’s so famous, and she creates this—people love her,” he added. “And she really represents something important to people.”
