The legendary Pat Sajak hosted his final episode of Wheel of Fortune last Friday after hosting the show for 43 years. Now, it’s been revealed that Sajak already has his next job lined up, and it’s quite a surprising one.

Sajak’s Next Job

Sajak, 77, is officially entering the world of acting!

Sajak will reportedly be playing the antagonist in the classic 1962 play Prescription: Murder, according to Fox News. He’ll be starring in a production of the play at the Hawaii Theatre Centre in Honolulu. This is the play that inspired both the Peter Falk-led Columbo pilot of the same name and the detective series that ran until 2003.

Sajak’s character is a psychiatrist who plots with his mistress to murder his wife. He is then relentlessly pursued by an unassuming LAPD lieutenant, who is set to be played by the Hawaii news anchor Joe Moore.

Sajak will be starring in the show from July 31 to August 10, 2025.

“Pat Sajak, just retired as host of the popular Wheel of Fortune game show following 41 seasons, and his long-time buddy Joe Moore return to the Hawaii Theatre Center main stage in 2025, starring in William Link and Richard Levinson’s original Columbo mystery thriller, Prescription: Murder, with all of the net proceeds for the show going to support the Hawaii Theatre Center,” the theater’s website states.

Sajak And Moore’s History

Sajak and Moore have been close friends for decades. They met when they were both serving in the Vietnam War, with each of them working at the American Forces Vietnam Network in Saigon in 1968. In the years since then, they have performed in nine plays together.

They first acted together in the 1993 play Prophecy and Honor, which was written by Moore. Most recently, they starred in The Sunshine Boys in 2023. Check out a clip from that below.

Moore is a famous figure in Hawaii. He has been a broadcaster in the state since 1969, when he got his start as a sportscaster, according to KHON2. In 1980, Moore moved to the news anchor desk, and he’s been there ever since.

Sajak Retires

Sajak, of course, is famous on a national level for hosting Wheel of Fortune. He’d been hosting the beloved game show since December of 1981 before he said goodbye on his final episode on Friday.

“The time has come to say goodbye,” he said at the end of his last show. “It’s been an incredible privilege to be invited into millions of homes night after night, year after year, decade after decade.”

“I always felt that the privilege came with the responsibility to keep this daily half hour a safe place for family fun,” he continued. “No social issues, no politics, nothing embarrassing I hope, just a game.”

“Thank you for allowing me into your lives,” he later concluded.

Sajak has such a charming and fun personality that it isn’t hard to imagine him commanding the stage in a play. If you find yourself in Honolulu next summer, be sure to check out his show!
