The legendary country music star Willie Nelson turned 93 on Wednesday, April 29. He is currently on the second day of his annual two-day birthday celebration.
Nelson’s 93rd Birthday
Nelson was officially born on April 29, 1933 in Abbott, Texas. However, he has always celebrated his birthday for two days because of some small-town paperwork confusion. Indeed, Nelson previously told SiriusXM that his birth was recorded a day late.
“I was born before midnight on the 29th, but it didn’t get registered in the county courthouse until the next day, the 30th,” Nelson explained. “So it went out officially as the 30th. I just do both days.”
This means that each year, Nelson has celebrated his birthday on both April 29 and April 30.
How fun is that?!
Nelson Shoots Down Death Rumors
This comes months after Nelson was forced to shoot down death rumors that were spreading online. He took to Instagram in December of 2025 to confirm that he is still very much alive.
“If you believe those AI death stories one more time…,” Nelson wrote alongside a series of photos of himself.
Nelson was reportedly left “rattled” by these rumors that he had died.
“Willie doesn’t get rattled by much but those death rumors did bother him,” a source told The Globe at the time. “They spread so fast. People from all over were calling in a panic. It was upsetting.”
That being said, there was still a silver lining to this death hoax.
“It’s reminded him how much he still wants to be here,” the insider continued. “He keeps telling people he feels lucky to be alive, lucky to still have his voice and be able to get up every day and do what he loves, and most of all, lucky to have such an amazing family and so many wonderful friends.”
“Willie’s going to make spending time with them, an even bigger focus going forward,” the source added. “He really wants to carve out quality time for that.”
The insider went on to say that Nelson is “determined” to tour again.
“He does want to tour, but it will be very strategically planned so that he’s not overdoing it and still has plenty of time to relax and be with his loved ones,” the source explained. “He’s determined to live many more years, but he’s also realistic.”
“Willie’s got a finite amount of time left,” the insider concluded. “And he wants to use it wisely.”
Nelson Takes Care Of Himself
Later in December, Nelson revealed that he takes care of himself by doing sit-ups, arm rolls, leg lifts and jogging.
“I’m in pretty good shape, physically, for ninety-two,” Nelson said at the time. “Woke up again this morning, so that’s good.”
Nelson added that he still loves performing, saying that “singing for an hour is good for you.”
His daughter Amy chimed in to add, “I think it’s literally keeping him alive.”
In November of 2024, Nelson told The Associated Press, “I feel like I’m in pretty good shape physically.”
After saying that he takes “pretty good care of himself,” Nelson explained at the time, “I’m 91 plus, so, you know, I’m not worried about it. I don’t feel bad, I don’t hurt anywhere. I don’t have any reason to worry about dying.”
Nelson is a true living legend, and there will never be another one like him. We’d like to wish Willie Nelson a very happy birthday, and many more to come!
