Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are arguably the most popular couple in the world right now. Since going public with their relationship back in 2023, they’ve had millions of fans around the world rooting for their love.
That’s why it may come as a surprise to learn that Taylor and Travis actually hid their relationship from their own families at first. However, it turns out that they did so for a good reason.
Taylor And Travis Waited To Tell Their Families
Last week, Travis’ sister-in-law Kylie Kelce, who is married to his older brother Jason, went on the Call Her Daddy podcast. There, she confirmed to host Alex Cooper that Taylor and Travis dated privately for a time without telling their respective families anything about the budding romance.
“I will say, we knew before everyone else knew. But we were, it was not like –” Kylie began. Alex then interjected to ask, “It didn’t hit the group chat?”
“It did not hit the group chat,” Kylie confirmed.
“Jason and I found out together,” she added. “But we knew before they like, hard launched [Taylor] going to a game.”

Taylor And Travis Go Public
Taylor and Travis revealed their relationship to the world on September 24, 2023. On that day, Taylor attended her first Kansas City Chiefs game at Arrowhead Stadium with Travis’ mother Donna.
Though some may be surprised that Taylor and Travis waited to tell their families that they were dating, it turns out that they made this decision just to give themselves a chance to get to know one another privately before involving anyone else.
“This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as [expletive],” Taylor previously told Time Magazine. “We started hanging out right after that.”
“So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other,” she continued. “By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple. I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”
Isn’t it interesting how many people describe their relationship the same way you would a consumer product? I digress…
Kylie Meets Taylor
Kylie didn’t meet Taylor until another Chiefs game. By then, Kylie was already getting flack online from some Swifties who were “deeply disturbed” that she hadn’t met Taylor yet.
“There was like, all of this stuff leading up to it about, ‘Well, why haven’t they met? They’re avoiding each other,'” Kylie recalled in her latest interview. “I’m not avoiding anyone. I am more than happy to meet someone, especially someone that Travis is dating.”
“But it was funny to me because I kept saying to people I didn’t meet Travis for probably close to a year when Jason and I were dating,” she added. “And she’s busy. It’s just so silly to me that that’s like the storyline that’s written.”
Taylor And Travis Today
Taylor and Travis are still going strong. Last week, she was in the stands supporting him as the Chiefs lost the Super Bowl to the Philadelphia Eagles. Now that the NFL season is over, Taylor and Travis are reportedly eager to spend some quality downtime together.
After the Super Bowl, a source close to the couple told Page Six that Taylor and Travis “are looking forward to getting away from all the distractions and being by themselves.”
“Taylor and Travis are going to take some time away to vacation with just the two of them, talk about their future and just relax,” the insider concluded.
Taylor and Travis are both 35, and they have each never been married. Only time will tell if they end up walking down the aisle!
