Whoopi Goldberg came unglued on her ABC talk show The View once again on Thursday morning. This time, her target was the Supreme Court.
Goldberg Unravels On The View
Goldberg, 70, sounded off against the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down Louisiana’s second majority-black congressional district was meant to discourage people of color from voting.
“This decision, we knew this was coming because they’ve been chipping away at this for a long time,” said Goldberg. “They the court said, you know, there’s no problem with race anymore and yet we’re fighting every day talking about Project 2025.”
“We are seeing we know what’s happening and it’s happening,” she continued. “It’s going to start happening to women as well, because all these changes in voting where they’re saying you can’t use your married name, you got to go get your birth certificate, you know, so this is this is going to affect a lot of people. Right now it sounds like it’s just affecting people of color. We know better. We knew this was coming. So this is meant to discourage you from voting. This is meant to make you feel like you don’t have a voice. You do have a voice. Do not forget that.”
Goldberg Doubles Down
Not stopping there, Goldberg proceeded to double down.
“We put the Voting Rights Act together because there was an issue. They were literally shooting people,” she claimed. “They were running them down with dogs to keep them from voting. OK, let’s start with that. So when they say that problem is gone, it’s not gone because you’re still doing it. You’re still doing it.”
“And what I don’t understand is what is everybody so afraid of? Because I always thought I was raised to believe that you and I don’t have to agree,” Goldberg concluded. “That’s all right. But now suddenly your argument doesn’t hold water so you’re cheating. See that? We’re a two party system. We’re not just Democrats, we’re not just Republicans, we’re a two party system.”

The Supreme Court’s Ruling
The Supreme Court ruling in question came out the day before in the case of Louisiana v. Callais. It was decided 6-3 along ideological lines.
Justice Samuel Alito wrote for the conservative majority that the Louisiana map amounted to an “unconstitutional racial gerrymander.” Meanwhile, liberal Justices Elena Kagan, Sonia Sotomayor and Ketanji Brown Jackson dissented. Kagan wrote that the ruling had rendered a key provision of the Voting Rights Act “all but a dead letter.”
Former President Barack Obama spoke out against the decision as well. Indeed, he argued that the ruling shows “how a majority of the current Court seems intent on abandoning its vital role in ensuring equal participation in our democracy.”
Donald Trump’s White House, however, immediately celebrated the ruling.
“This is a complete and total victory for American voters,” said White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson. “The color of one’s skin should not dictate which congressional district you belong in.”
Goldberg and her fellow liberals can whine about the Supreme Court’s decision all that they want to, but it’s not going to change it. In the end, this is the Supreme Court that the majority of Americans have shown that they wanted through their voting. You’re just going to need to deal with that, Whoopi Goldberg!
