Whoopi Goldberg has been the moderator on the ABC talk show The View for nearly twenty years. During that time, she’s become known for her unhinged liberal outbursts.
While these outbursts have been tolerated by ABC executives for years, their patience may finally be running out. Indeed, according to ABC insiders, Goldberg, 70, is “set to be pushed out” of The View very soon due to her leftwing meltdowns.
ABC Executives Turn On Goldberg
Last month, the conservative Elisabeth Hasselbeck, 48, returned to The View as a guest host. She was filling in for Alyssa Farah Griffin, 36, who has been on maternity leave.
Hasselbeck was the token conservative on The View from 2003 until 2013, when she left to go to Fox News. During her time on the ABC talk show, she was known for her verbal battles with her liberal co-hosts, especially Goldberg.
One ABC insider claimed that Hasselbeck’s return to The View was carefully orchestrated by savvy producers. According to this source, the producers encouraged Hasselbeck to challenge Goldberg as much as possible in order to elevate the tension on the panel.
“Producers were telling Hasselbeck to push Goldberg and the [other panelist] ladies even harder,” the ABC insider told Radar Online. “They know what makes great television – and they wanted sparks. Conflict equals ratings.”
Other ABC staffers said that producers privately assured Goldberg that Hasselbeck’s time on The View would only be temporary. However, they may not have been being honest with her.
“Elisabeth’s return could be part of a longer play,” said one insider. “Some people think she’s being used to slowly nudge Whoopi toward the exit.”

Goldberg Called Out For ‘Struggles’ On The View
Unfortunately for Goldberg, ABC producers are not the only ones who think it may be time for her to leave The View. Indeed, many viewers think that it’s time for her to make her exit as well.
Just last week, a debate was launched on the The View‘s Reddit subforum after someone noticed that Goldberg has been struggling to read the teleprompter lately while carrying out her moderating duties.
“I think the producers are doing her a disservice,” one Reddit user wrote to start the conversation. “She’s let be it known she’s dyslexic and it seems that lately she’s been having a really tough time reading the prompter and setting up the stories.”
“This feels like something Brian [Teta, exec producer] and the producers could fix,” the social media user added. “Maybe slow the prompter down or make the words bigger. Also maybe sound out some of the names before going on air.”
‘Time To Say Goodbye!’
Many Reddit users responded by not only agreeing, but also calling on Goldberg to leave The View.
“She’s been on autopilot for the best part of a decade,” wrote one frustrated commenter. “Every day delivering the same rambling speeches and doing the fake Valley Girl voice and swinging rapidly between pretending not to care and being so passionate that nobody dare disagree with her. 19 years is a good run. Time to say goodbye!”
“I could not agree more. She’s over the job, probably just hanging in for the money. I wish she would move on,” another added. A third social media user wrote, “I wish she would just go back to acting. I adore her as an actress and thought she is a B- at best as a moderator.”
“It’s always been about money, but every year it feels more disrespectful to the show, the topics, and essentially the viewers,” yet another social media user commented. “Whoopi doesn’t care at all now.”

Goldberg Desperate To Stay On The View
This will all come as bad news to Goldberg, as she has long claimed that she can’t financially “afford” to leave The View despite having an estimated net worth of $30-60 million.
“Who can afford to do that? If you don’t marry well, you’ve got to keep working,” she told Entertainment Tonight in September last year. “I’ve got to keep paying those bills, baby.”
Goldberg made similar comments live on The View in 2024.
“I appreciate that people are having a hard time. Me, too. I work for a living,” she said at the time. “If I had all the money in the world, I would not be here, okay? So, I’m a working person, you know?”
Sorry, Whoopi, but you may not have a choice on this one.
Only time will tell how much longer Goldberg can survive on The View, but it’s certainly not looking good for her!
