Warren Beatty has reportedly become a “total recluse” since he retreated from Hollywood.
Total Recluse

The 89-year-old actor has not been seen out in public in four years. A new report suggests he spends all his time at the Los Angeles home he shares with his wife, Annette Bening. However, he doesn’t accept visitors and has given up throwing dinner parties for pals.
A source told the Daily Mail newspaper, “Warren is a total recluse these days at his Los Angeles home, he does not really go out anywhere at all.”
“He is not taking visitors, so [he and his wife’s] famous dinner parties are a thing of the past. He has gotten tired and is not in the mood for socializing, he is over it.”
The insider added that Beatty spends most of his time relaxing in his backyard and watching movies at home. They added he “has not been on an airplane in years” and “has no interest” in doing so.
Best Picture Fumble
The report suggests the lifestyle change was partly down to his ill-fated appearance at the Academy Awards in 2017. Beatty reunited with his Bonnie and Clyde co-star Faye Dunaway to present the award for Best Picture.
However, the pair had been given the wrong envelope. Dunaway accidentally announced La La Land as the winner when the prize was supposed to go to Moonlight.
The source explained, “That made him want to stay away from Hollywood because it was so unfair and rude, he was like: ‘I’m out folks’ … He felt like he did not want to be involved in such a mean-spirited era.”
Beatty & Bening

However, the actor’s new lifestyle is not believed to have affected his relationship with Bening, who is said to enjoy still having a busy work schedule and is still seen out and about at events.
The insider added, “‘There is no tension between Annette and Warren, their marriage is OK. He is like: ‘Go do your thing, chase your passion, just don’t drag me along!’ He just wants to be home.”
The couple met while making the 1991 movie Bugsy. They married in 1992 and are parents to four grown-up children, including actress Ella Beatty.
Beatty previously admitted he knew his wife was the one when they met, and he was happy to settle down with her after his wild early years in Hollywood.
During an appearance on the Today show in 2016, he said, “The most important thing that’s ever happened – the best thing that’s ever happened to me – was Annette and having four kids …”
“It didn’t really surprise me. I always felt I wasn’t trying to avoid marriage, I was trying to avoid divorce. I had no doubt when I met Annette that it was time to get married.”
