Last month, the music mogul and rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs, 54, was arrested and charged with sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He was later remanded without bail and is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York as he awaits trial.
Now, a chilling 1999 interview has resurfaced in which Diddy predicted his own arrest. Indeed, it seems that he saw this coming all along.
‘They’re Gonna Probably Be Arresting Me’
“You’re gonna hear about my parties, they’re gonna be shuttin’ ’em down,” Combs told Entertainment Tonight 25 years ago. “They’re gonna probably be arresting me, doing all types of crazy things just ‘cause we wanna have a good time.”
“They won’t even give me a permit for the parties, man,” he continued. “They don’t want me to throw the parties no more. But we ain’t gonna stop, we gonna keep on having fun. Bringing people together for all walks of life.”
Chilling.
Diddy went on to discuss the gatherings that he hosted. He said that he wanted to “bring up a different element into people’s environment” which would help broaden their horizons.
“People get intimidated. It’s a lot of people out there that feel intimidated by it,” he admitted.
Not stopping there, Diddy said that throwing these parties was about “breaking down racial barriers, breaking down generation barriers.” He added that it was also about bringing together “people from all walks of life connecting and gettin’ together.”
“It doesn’t make me feel like a bigger person,” he concluded. “It just makes me feel like I know how to throw a party.”
Obviously, it’s unclear if Diddy is referring to the notorious “freak offs” or simply other star-studded events. But the foreshadowing can’t be ignored.

Diddy’s Arrest
Diddy was arrested on September 16. In his federal indictment, which was obtained by E! News, Diddy was accused of having “abused, threatened, and coerced women and others around him” for decades.
The day after his arrest, Diddy pleaded not guilty to the charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution. A New York City judge then denied a $50 million bail package for him, remanding the music mogul to federal custody until trial.
Diddy’s lawyer Erica Wolff told USA Today last month that the rapper “emphatically and categorically denies as false and defamatory any claim that he sexually abused anyone, including minors.”
U.S. Attorney Damian Williams, however, said that the evidence supporting his indictment “includes records obtained pursuant to over 300 grand jury subpoenas and other voluntary productions.”
Diddy’s Legal Team Is Facing ‘An Uphill Battle’
Meanwhile, Anna Cominsky, associate professor of law and director of the Criminal Defense Clinic at New York Law School, has spoken out to say that Diddy’s defense has “an uphill battle” ahead of them.
Cominsky explained that Diddy’s federal case is substantively different from “the he-said-she-said that you see in some sexual assault or sexual abuse cases where it’s the defendant’s word against the victim’s word and vice versa.”
“We’re talking about the potential for there to be dozens of people coming into court testifying about this alleged conduct,” she explained.
The claims that have been made against Diddy are deeply disturbing. It will certainly be interesting to see how this case plays out.
