The country music star Tim McGraw has shocked his fans by cancelling an upcoming concert for a surprising reason.
McGraw Cancels Performance
McGraw, 57, has been forced to cancel a performance at the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) event in Colorado. This concert was scheduled to take place on July 21.
“Cross Canadian Ragweed will step in for Tim McGraw as he recovers from back surgery to open the Last Cowboy Standing Show on July 21 in Fort Collins — and we couldn’t be more thrilled,” PBR announced in a statement posted to social media.
“The band is back together and ready to bring the house down in an unforgettable night of world-class music and the greatest bull riding on earth. You won’t want to miss it,” the statement continued. “We’re sending our very best to Tim for a quick recovery and hope to see him at a future PBR event.”
McGraw Leaves Netflix Show
This comes months after McGraw stepped away from a starring role in an untitled bull-riding show that is set to air on Netflix. He had been signed on to both star in and executive produce the show.
“McGraw’s role on the Netflix series is physically demanding –set in the fierce, competitive world of bull riding, the drama follows a megastar champion (McGraw) facing a life-or-death crossroads when confronted by the arrival of a fearless young rider whose very existence challenges his ways and unearths secrets that force him to reckon with his past,” Deadline reported back in January.
However, McGraw had to step away from this project to get back surgery. The future of the series is now uncertain, but recasting is rumored to be happening.
“Sort of went south on me right at the beginning of the tour,” McGraw told Taste of Country of his back surgery. “And so, sort of compensating for that, my knees went out like three weeks into the tour.”

McGraw Updates Fans On His Health
Last month, McGraw gave fans a brief update on his health.
“I can tell you that after double knee replacements and three back surgeries and now a torn rotator cuff and a ruptured disc, all the things that are going on, there were times this year that I thought this might be it,” McGraw said on the “TL’s Road House” podcast. “This might be time to hang it up.”
McGraw went on to say that he’s had to do his fitness routine and workouts carefully.
“I can’t move quickly, there’s no turning real quick to do something,” he admitted. “Everything has to be very intentional; everything that I do has to be very methodical. I have to do cold plunges, I have to do infrared saunas. I have to do massages.”
McGraw launched his Standing Room Only Tour on March 14, 2024. He has scheduled dates until October 25, 2025. McGraw’s next performance is scheduled for August 2 in Bristol, Tennessee. We can only hope and pray that McGraw is healthy enough by then to move forward with that performance!
