The Hollywood star Tim Allen, who is best known for his hit sitcoms Home Improvement and Last Man Standing, has announced that he’s reading the Bible in its entirety for the first time.

Allen Reading Entire Bible

It might come as a surprise, given how open Allen is about his conservative views, but he admits he’s never read the Bible cover-to-cover.

“Never took the time in all my years to ever read and really read the Bible,” Allen, 71, wrote on social media. “Currently almost through the Jerusalem Bible Old Testament and almost done with the Prophets.”

“Next up to New Testament,” he added. “So far amazing and not at all what I was expecting.”

Allen’s Journey To Finding God

Allen has long been open about his Christian faith and his journey to finding God. He was only 11 years-old when his father was killed by a drunk driver. This caused Allen to question his faith.

“For years, I just did not like this idea of God, church,” he told ABC News back in 2011. “(I was) still a churchgoer, but constantly a cynic.”

This all changed after Allen was arrested in 1978 with over a pound of cocaine. He subsequently spent two years in prison, where he found God again. Ever since then, Allen has been a proud believer. These days, he refers to God as “The Builder.”

“I always do ask … The Builder, what did you want me to do?” Allen said. “And I do ask it. But you got to be prepared for the answer. Whoever built me, this is too much, too weird that it happened by accident. It didn’t happen by accident.”

Allen Incorporates Religion Into The Santa Clauses

Unlike many Hollywood stars, Allen hasn’t been afraid to be open about his faith. Back in 2022, Allen revealed that he insisted that his Disney+ series The Santa Clauses include faith-based elements.

“It originally had a lot of otherworldly characters, and ghosts, and goblins,” Allen told The Wrap at the time. “I said no, this is Christ-mas. Its Christ-mas. It literally is a religious holiday.”

“We don’t have to blow trumpets, but I do want you to acknowledge it. That’s what this is about,” he continued. “If you want to get into Santa Claus, you’re going to have to go back to history, and it’s all about religion.”

Sure enough, the fifth and sixth episodes of the series included religious elements. Allen said that it was “really wonderful” to see this happen, adding that the show “took a chance, and we did it very well.”

Allen later stated that The Santa Clauses had a message about how powerful giving to others can be.

“The heart of Christmas is about giving. Getting is what we’ve gotten used to. … But the whole thing is about what it’s like to give,” Allen previously said. “Give as a father to his children. … It is so [magical].”

In the crazy world of Hollywood, it’s rare to find someone who is as proud a Christian as Allen is. God bless him for being so open about his faith, and we wish him the best of luck on his biblical journey!
