We might finally be getting the next James Bond.
Ever since acquiring rights to the character from Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson earlier in 2025, Amazon has been searching for a new actor to lead their next installment of the 007 franchise.
Now, there might finally be a hint at who could play the savvy spy.

Amazon Has Big Shoes to Fill
Amazon is gonna need a star for the next iteration of James Bond.
The series will be continuing after Daniel Craig, who might be one of the best actors to play Bond, and portray the best iteration of Bond ever. However, Amazon may be close to finding a new actor.
According to insider Daniel Richtman, the streaming service is looking to film sometime in 2026, and one of the leading choices to play Bond is Aaron Pierre.
The Next James Bond: Aaron Pierre?
While not immediately recognizable, Aaron Pierre has slowly made a name for himself in Hollywood, thanks in part to the TV miniseries The Underground Railroad, M. Night Shyamalan’s Old, and voicing Mufasa in Mufasa: The Lion King.
His most exciting role, though, is in Netflix’s action thriller Rebel Ridge.

Why His Performance in Rebel Ridge Holds Promise
Aaron Pierre’s performance in Rebel Ridge made the film. His acting demonstrated a range of charisma, mystery, humanity, and menace, exactly what you would expect from a prospective Bond leading man.
The film recognizes the tension of watching a Black man try to navigate the legal system that is seemingly designed against him, but Pierre manages to keep the character relatable throughout the film while hinting at an inner rage.
This range in emotions and persona would be what Pierre needs to channel to become an unforgettable James Bond.
Bringing a New Bond onto the Screen
Over the years, the Bond franchise has continued to reinvent the famous 007 agent to keep the franchise new and exciting.
It remains to be seen which path they will take with the character, whether it’s a darker approach like the Daniel Craig installments, or playing up the womanizing swagger persona like Sean Connery or Pierce Brosnan.
Pierre can handle several types of personas and could be a great out-of-the-box choice to keep the franchise relevant in 2025. This is especially important after Craig’s installments, as he brought a rugged humanity to Bond that hadn’t been explored before.
It might be worthwhile to explore how Bond ticks and appeal to a contemporary audience better.

Other Possible James Bond Options
Many names have been thrown around since Daniel Craig finished his time as Bond.
Popular options include Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Henry Cavill, and Jack Lowden, but some opinions have shifted to a more “unconventional” Bond character.
Theo James, Stephen Graham, and Harry Styles have also been thrown around, but there seems to be real promise in Aaron Pierre.
