The legendary Hollywood star Sylvester Stallone is set to turn 80 in July of this year. In a new interview, the former Rocky star is showing the world that age really is just a number by showcasing his toned physique in a new gym video.
Stallone’s Passion For The Gym
Stallone, 79, took to Instagram on Sunday to post a video of himself working out at the gym. In the video, Stallone gushed over the gym, which is a place that he calls his “sanctuary” and his “church.”
“I haven’t done a video from the gym in a long time,” Stallone said with a laugh. “In a way, it’s kind of like a sanctuary, a church.”
“We pray to get better, to feel better physically, so you have the strength to arrive at your goals, really confident and ready to face any challenge,” he continued. “Keep punching, see you soon.”
While Stallone still loves working out, he can’t deny that his grueling workouts are only getting harder as he approaches 80.
“Every year it gets harder and harder, but that’s why you gotta push harder and harder,” Stallone wrote in the caption of his video. “Blood sweat and tears.”
Social Media Users Praise Stallone
The video immediately went viral, with fans praising Stallone for his devotion to fitness in the comments section.
“It’s like a church for me as well,” one social media user commented. “Physically, mentally and spiritually improves my life! Having spent time around you I’ve seen the physical benefits as we age!”
“Sir you are A true legend who inspired generations to choose strength, discipline, and consistency,” a second social media user added. A third wrote, “We’d be lucky to look like Sly at his age.”
“Keep punching Sly. True GOAT. True inspiration,” yet another fan commented. A final social media user addressed Stallone directly, writing, “You were, are and will continue to be an inspiration of life and strength for all of us. We grew up with you and we try to follow in your footsteps. Thank you for the motivation.”
Fears For Stallone’s Health
Last month, Stallone sparked fears for his health when he was seen using a cane as he hit the red carpet at the 2025 Kennedy Center Honors.
“Sly is using a cane due to back surgery,” his rep told TV Insider at the time. “He appreciates everyone’s concern and support.”
Stallone previously revealed in 2024 that he’s undergone seven back surgeries in recent years. He was forced to undergo these procedures due to injuries he developed after doing his own stunts in the 2010 movie The Expendables.
“There’s something romantic about doing your own stunts,” Stallone said at the time. “There’s something very unromantic about after doing your own stunts.” Stallone went on to admit that he “never recovered” from this fully.
“After that film, it was literally physically never the same,” he lamented. “So I warn people, don’t do your own stunts.”
Thankfully, Stallone appears to have recovered from his latest back surgery, his eighth overall, enough to return to the gym. In the end, Stallone continues to serve as an inspiration to all of us with his commitment to fitness. Indeed, he’s living proof that nobody is ever too old to hit the gym in some way.
God bless you, Sylvester Stallone!
