It’s been nearly 28 years since Princess Diana passed away. She is still missed by millions all over the world to this day. Now, it’s shockingly been revealed that Diana once inadvertently nearly sparked a brawl between the Hollywood stars Sylvester Stallone and Richard Gere!
Stallone And Gere Nearly Brawl Over Diana
This story was recounted by author Edward White in his new book “Dianaworld: An Obsession.” In it, White writes that Stallone and Gere nearly brawled over Diana during a party at the home of Elton John back in the 1990s. This was reportedly revealed to White by David Furnish, who is John’s husband.
“It’s a story that [also] comes from Elton’s autobiography,” White told Fox News. “He invited Sylvester Stallone and Richard Gere to a house party that Diana was also at. I mean, it’s Elton John, so probably everyone in the room was like an A-list celebrity or a member of some grand European royal family.”
“So they turned up,” White continued. “According to Elton John, Sylvester Stallone turned up with the intention of picking up Diana, which is wishful thinking in several ways… But he did that.”
When Stallone walked in, however, Diana was talking to another A-list Hollywood star.
“Sylvester Stallone walked in and saw Diana in deep conversation with Richard Gere,” White alleged. “He felt that Stallone got angrier and angrier as the evening wore on, because Richard Gere was just dominating. That’s how he felt – that he was dominating the conversation with Diana.”
“At some point, from what Elton John says, Sylvester Stallone’s emotions got the better of him,” White added. “He then squared up to Richard Gere, and they had to be separated… It was these two alpha males squabbling over a woman who neither probably had a chance with, to be honest.”
Who would have thought?!
White Doubles Down
White further talked about this in an excerpt from his book that was obtained by People Magazine.
“If John’s memory serves him well, Sylvester Stallone arrived ‘with the express intention of picking Diana up’ and was infuriated to see her ‘in rapt conversation’ with Richard Gere,” White wrote.
“At some point in the evening, John’s husband, David Furnish, came upon Stallone and Gere ‘squaring up to each other, apparently about to settle their differences over Diana by having a fist-fight,'” he continued. “Stallone said he wouldn’t have bothered turning up if he’d known that “Prince [expletive] Charming was gonna be here.”

Elton John Recalls Alleged Incident
John himself also discussed the alleged incident in his 2019 memoir “Me.”
“As the rest of us chatted, I couldn’t help but notice a strange atmosphere in the room,” John wrote. “Judging by the kind of looks he kept shooting them, Diana and Richard Gere’s newly blossoming friendship was not going down well with Sylvester Stallone at all. I think he may have turned up to the party with the express intention of picking Diana up, only to find his plans for the evening ruined.”
“Straight away, Richard Gere and Diana seemed very taken with each other,” the singer added.
When it came time for the party guests to head into the dining room to eat, Stallone and Gere were noticeably absent. John quickly sent Furnish to go and find them.
“He came back with both of them, but he was wearing a fairly ashen expression,” John recounted, adding that his husband told him that there had been “a situation.”
“It transpired that he’d discovered Sylvester Stallone and Richard Gere in the corridor, squaring up to each other, apparently about to settle their differences over Diana by having a fistfight,” John wrote.

Diana’s Reaction
Thankfully, Furnish was able to break the two stars up before they actually came to blows. Meanwhile, according to John, Diana “seemed completely unruffled” by the entire incident. Sadly, Diana would go on to die in a car crash in August of 1997. She was only 36 years-old.
Stallone, 78, has previously denied that any of this ever happened, describing the story as a “complete fabrication.” Both Stallone and Gere, 75, haven’t commented on this story since it resurfaced.
Diana was one of the most beautiful and kind women in the world. That’s why it’s not too surprising that Diana had men fighting over her. We’re just glad that the brawl between Stallone and Gere never actually ended up happening, because we can only imagine who would have come out victorious!
