The world was stunned back in July when the involuntary manslaughter charge against the Hollywood star Alec Baldwin was dropped. He had been hit with the charge after the 2021 death of the cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of his movie Rust.

Now, Alec’s younger brother Stephen Baldwin is opening up about what watching the brief trial was like.

Rust Trial Unravels

Stephen, 58, sat in the New Mexico courtroom each day to support Alec, 66, before the charge was dropped. He described this as being a surreal experience.

“To be in the room, this is going to sound hokey, but it literally felt like it was you were in a movie,” Stephen told Fox News. “And it was creepy because I make movies. I’m not even trying to be funny.”

Alec was indicted by a New Mexico grand jury for Halyna’s death back in January. His trial then began in July.

On day three of the trial, however, Alec’s lawyers claimed that prosecutors had withheld evidence in the form of ammunition that had not been shown to his legal team. Because of this, they asked Judge Sommer to dismiss all charges. She agreed and dismissed the charges without prejudice, meaning that Alec can’t be charged again.

“The state’s willful withholding of this information was intentional and deliberate,” Judge Sommer said in court. “If this conduct does not rise to the level of bad faith, it certainly comes so near to bad faith as to show signs of scorching prejudice.”

“There is no way for the court to right this wrong,” she added.

‘It Was Just Wild’

Stephen was shocked by how the trial unfolded.

“But clearly, the judge found it heinous. So, it was just wild,” he said. “And no matter what, family’s family, you know, so [it was a] very positive outcome of my brother and I spending more time together.”

“I was just blessed that I was able to take the time and be there and support him and be in the room,” he added.

Stephen went on to say that Alec is “doing much better and healthier and getting ready for his new show and enjoying his family.”

This is a reference to the reality show that Alec is currently filming with his wife Hilaria, 40, and their seven children.

“An accident’s an accident, but to have the legal system manipulated in any way falsely is just not right in any way ever for anyone, especially when a life has been lost,” Stephen continued. “So, our prayers are always going out and going up for all of that stuff.”

Stephen To Interview Alec

Alec will be joining Stephen for an episode of the latter’s podcast “One Bad Movie.”

“It’s a very unique conversation where people are really letting their hair down and telling stories that even they are saying on the show, you know, like, ‘Wow, I can’t believe I just told that story,'” Stephen said. “We’re having a blast.”

It’s unclear when that episode will be dropping.

The shooting that occurred on the set of Rust continues to be a tragedy for everyone involved. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with Halyna’s loved ones as they mourn her.
