Stan Lee‘s voice and likeness have been resurrected by an artificial intelligence (AI) audio firm.

The Marvel Comics mastermind now features in the ElevenLabs Iconic Marketplace. This means customers can license the late writer for commercial use, following a deal with Stan Lee Universe.

Chaz Rainey, a lawyer and board member for Stan Lee Universe, shared a statement with Variety. “Stan always believed in meeting his fans where they were: in the pages of a comic, at a convention, or in a quick on-screen cameo.”

“This partnership is a way of continuing that. Fans have always told us that when they read his comics, they hear the words in Stan’s voice, and now, thanks to ElevenLabs, we can make that a reality.”

He added, “His voice, his image, his love of storytelling… ElevenLabs gives us a way to keep that alive and in fans’ hands in a way that’s true to who he was.”

Video Using Lee’s Voice

On May 27, ElevenLabs took to Instagram and posted an AI-generated video of Stan.

The comic book legend’s narrator said, “You know what they never tell you about legends? They outlive the page. A good story doesn’t belong to one moment. It grows. It changes, it gets passed from generation to generation, constantly evolving.”

The AI version of Stan added, “With great power comes great responsibility,” before it delivered the Spider-Man creator’s iconic catchphrase: “Excelsior!”

ElevenLabs is also using Stan’s voice in its audiobook series, Stan Lee Book Club of the Month. The book club begins in June with Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island.

It is adding two comic book music filters, Superhero Cinematic Swells, and Retro Hero Fanfare, to its AI music generator, ElevenCreative Music.

Stan joins a whole host of notable figures in the ElevenLabs Iconic Marketplace. This includes Sir Michael Caine, Judy Garland, Burt Reynolds, David Hasselhoff, and Albert Einstein.

Stan died of cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, and congestive heart failure in November 2018 at the age of 95.

But Marvel fans got to interact with the Iron Man creator through an AI-powered hologram. It was displayed at the Los Angeles Comic Con in September 2025.

Bob Sabouni, Head of Stan Lee Legacy Programs for Kartoon Studios, told The Hollywood Reporter, “We’ll never put words in his mouth that aren’t in line with things he spoke about in his lifetime.”

“Fortunately, with decades of footage capturing his thoughts on so many subjects, we can build a voice that stays true, not always word for word, but always faithful in spirit, context, and intent.”
