Sharon Stone is opening up about a terrifying incident she says she didn’t fully understand until a decade after it happened.

Foggy Memories

The Basic Instinct star revealed she once woke up unconscious on the floor of her home – and only years later learned from doctors that her injuries were consistent with a violent assault.

Speaking on The Person Who Believed In Me podcast, Stone said the memory remains fragmented.

She said, “I don’t know how much I can tell about this. I was hit from behind. I didn’t really know until 10 years later what had happened to me because I woke up. I was unconscious on the floor. The two couches were sideways. The coffee table was all over the place. It was sort of upside down. Everything that had been on the coffee table was all over the floor and I didn’t know how I got there.”

Proof of Attack

It wasn’t until a visit to a neck and spine clinic years later that a doctor uncovered the truth. Stone recalled undergoing X‑rays and prep for a procedure when the medical team abruptly stopped.

She recalled, “The doctor came in and he’s like, ‘We’re not going to be able to do this surgery.’ I was like, ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about.’ And he’s like, ‘Your thoracic rib cage is all fractured and scarred back together. It’s clear that you were attacked and that what happened to you was a felony.’”

Declining to Name Attacker

When podcast host David Begnaud asked who was responsible, Stone declined to name the person.

She said, “I am not going to say publicly, but I am going to say that we did report and we did do everything.”

The 68-year-old actress added that although she had “the opportunity to press charges,” she chose not to pursue a case because so much time had passed and she didn’t want the incident to define her public legacy.

“I did not want that to be my legacy,” she shared.

Begnaud also asked whether she considered the incident domestic violence, but Stone would not elaborate.

“I’m not at liberty to say.”
