Sarah Ferguson, the ex-wife of Prince Andrew who still lives with him to this day, has found herself in hot water after her past ties to the late billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein were exposed. Indeed, this has resulted in Ferguson being dropped by multiple charities.
Ferguson’s Alleged Epstein Emails
In emails that leaked over the weekend, Ferguson, 65, referred to Epstein as a “steadfast, generous and supreme friend.”
Daily Mail obtained 2011 emails in which Ferguson reached out to Epstein. She reportedly did so to personally apologize for denouncing their friendship in an interview. Ferguson, who divorced Andrew in 1996, said in this interview that she felt “deep regret” over her friendship with Epstein. She even promised to “have nothing ever to do with Jeffrey Epstein ever again.”
Afterwards, Ferguson allegedly emailed Epstein to say that he is a “steadfast, generous and supreme friend.”
“I know you feel hellaciously let down by me from what you were either told or read and I must humbly apologize to you and your heart for that,” Ferguson allegedly wrote.
“I was advised, in no uncertain terms, to have nothing to do with you and to not speak or email you and if I did I would cause more problems to you, [Prince Andrew] and myself,” Ferguson continued. She went on to claim that she “was instructed to act with the utmost speed if I would have any chance of holding on to my career as a children’s book author and a children’s philanthropist.”
Ferguson Fires Back
After the email was leaked, Ferguson fired back through a representative. This rep told The Guardian that Ferguson currently stands by her initial condemnation of Epstein.
“Like many people, she was taken in by [Epstein’s] lies,” Ferguson’s representative claimed. “As soon as she was aware of the extent of the allegations against him, she not only cut off contact but condemned him publicly, to the extent that he then threatened to sue her for defamation for associating him with pedophilia.”
“She does not resile from anything she said then,” the representative added. “This email was sent in the context of advice the duchess was given to try to assuage Epstein and his threats.”
Ferguson Dropped By Charities
Unfortunately for Ferguson, however it seems that the damage is already done. Indeed, she’s been dropped as the patron for multiple charities in the wake of these emails coming to light.
“Following the information shared this weekend on the Duchess of York’s correspondence with Jeffrey Epstein, Julia’s House has taken the decision that it would be inappropriate for her to continue as a patron of the charity,” a spokesperson for Julia’s House, a children’s hospice organization, told Fox News. “We have advised the Duchess of York of this decision and thank her for her past support.”
Ferguson has additionally been dropped by the Teenage Cancer Trust, the Natasha Allergy Research Foundation, and The Prevent Breast Cancer.
Epstein And Andrew’s Fates
Epstein allegedly took his own life in a New York City jail cell back in 2019. At the time, he was awaiting trial for various sex crimes.
Epstein’s former girlfriend, the British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell, was convicted in 2021 for helping lure teenage girls for him to allegedly abuse. Maxwell, 63, is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence.
As for Andrew, he’s also fallen into disgrace due to his past ties to Epstein. In 2022, Buckingham Palace stripped Andrew of his military affiliations and royal patronages.
Andrew and Sarah married in 1986. They had two daughters together, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, before divorcing in 1996. Despite being split up for nearly three decades, Andrew and Sarah remain very close. In fact, the former couple still live together at Royal Lodge. Though King Charles has been trying to get Andrew to move out for years, he has defiantly refused to do so.
It’s safe to say that both Andrew and Sarah are wishing that they’d never met Epstein at this point. Only time will tell how all of this impacts their quest to stay in Royal Lodge!
