It’s been one year since Rosie O’Donnell announced that she had fled the United States and moved to Ireland. She did this because of the second presidential victory of Donald Trump.
Over the weekend, O’Donnell reemerged to reveal to the world that she just met her newborn grandson for the first time.
O’Donnell Meets Newborn Grandson
On Sunday, O’Donnell took to Instagram to share a photo of herself holding her son Blake’s baby boy, who is named Anthony Joel.
“best day ever – met my grandson anthony – truly a beautiful child,” O’Donnell wrote in the caption. “I’m so proud of the happy parents teresa and blake #nana.”
O’Donnell later shared another series of photos of herself with Blake, 26, daughter Vivienne, 23, and her youngest child, Clay, 13. In the images, they can be seen taking turns holding Anthony.
“Thrilled to have Vivi and Clay with me as we all meet the new baby,” O’Donnell wrote in the caption of that post.
It should be noted that O’Donnell and Clay are wearing masks in all of these photos.
O’Donnell had initially announced the birth of Anthony, who is her fifth grandson, on Instagram on March 28.
“Anthony Joel O’Donnell has arrived ! and my heart burst open – congratulations to mama teresa n blake christopher,” O’Donnell wrote in that caption. “i love u so ❤️❤️❤️.”
Blake And Teresa’s Pregnancy Announcement
Blake and Teresa had announced that they were expecting a baby back in September of last year. They did so by taking to social media to share a photo of a onesie with “Baby O’Donnell March 2026” written on it. The onesie was hung on a clothesline next to a sonogram photo in a field of sunflowers.
“Our lives are about to get a whole lot sunnier💛🌻,” the couple wrote in the caption. “Baby OD arriving March 2026💛🍼.”
O’Donnell was quick to comment on the post, presumably from her new home in Ireland.
“I’m just over the moon ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️,” O’Donnell wrote.
Blake’s mother Kelli Carpenter, who is O’Donnell’s ex-wife, got in on the action as well.
“This fills my heart!” wrote Carpenter, 58. “I love the both of you so and your baby will be so loved! (And spoiled!) ❤️.”
Blake is one of O’Donnell’s five children, four of whom she shares with Carpenter. Aside from Blake, she’s also mom to son Parker, 30, and Blake, as well as daughters Chelsea, 28, and Vivienne. Meanwhile, she shared Clay with her late ex-wife, Michelle Rounds, who died by suicide back in 2017 at the age of 46.
O’Donnell’s other four grandchildren belong to Chelsea, who is currently in prison after she violated her probation. Her charges are related to drugs and child neglect.
O’Donnell Flees America
O’Donnell shocked the world last year when she announced that she had fled America because of Trump’s victory.
“I’m here in Ireland, and it’s beautiful and warm – not physically, it’s actually quite cold,” O’Donnell said in a video posted to TikTok on March 11, 2025. “Moved here on Jan. 15, and it’s been pretty wonderful, I have to say.”
“Although I was never someone who thought I would move to another country, that’s what I decided would be the best for myself and my 12-year-old child,” O’Donnell later added. “It’s been heartbreaking to see what’s happening politically and hard for me personally, as well. The personal is political, as we all know.”
O’Donnell went on to indicate that she might actually have some regrets about this move.
“I miss my other kids, I miss my friends,” she lamented. “I miss many things about life there at home. And I’m trying to find a home here in this beautiful country.”

O’Donnell Comes Crawling Back
In February of this year, however, O’Donnell admitted that she had quietly come crawling back to America.
“I was recently went home for two weeks and I did not really tell anyone, I just went to see my family,” O’Donnell said at the time. She added that she “wanted to see how hard it would be for me to get in and out of the country. I wanted to feel what it felt like.”
“I wanted to hold my children again,” the mother of five continued. “And I hadn’t been home in over a year. I also wanted to make sure that it was safe for me before I brought my daughter this summer, where we plan to spend the summertime off from her schooling here with my family.”
O’Donnell could not help but admit that she was “very excited to be home.”
It looks like America isn’t so bad after all, huh Rosie? Go figure!
While we’re glad that O’Donnell’s latest grandson appears to be healthy and happy, we still can’t help but think that America is better off without her in it. Here’s hoping that becoming a grandmother again doesn’t inspire O’Donnell to make a comeback to America.
Good riddance, Rosie O’Donnell!
