It’s been one year since Rosie O’Donnell announced that she had fled the United States and moved to Ireland. She did this because of the second presidential victory of Donald Trump.

On Saturday, O’Donnell celebrated her 64th birthday. This marked the second birthday that she’s celebrated in her adopted new home of Dublin.

O’Donnell Turns 64

“Wonderful birthday night with good friends here in dublin – my second birthday in Ireland,” O’Donnell wrote on Instagram. She added the hashtags, “#64 #sooby #friends #family.”

O’Donnell wrote this alongside a series of photos of her celebrating her big day. The first appears to show O’Donnell with her 13 year-old child Clay, who fled America with her. Clay is the youngest of O’Donnell’s five children. She left the other four behind in the U.S. after she left the country with Clay.

Another photo shows O’Donnell indulging in a large beer and what appears to be a small shot.

In a different image, she can be seen blowing out a candle on a 64th birthday cake that is in the shape of a top hat. Bizarrely, the cake includes an “I love NY” sticker on it. This was a strange addition, given the fact that O’Donnell was so quick to leave New York behind based solely on who is occupying the White House at the moment.

This comes a year after O’Donnell celebrated her 63rd birthday in Ireland. That was her first birthday celebration as an expat. Check out video of that big day below.

O’Donnell Flees America

O’Donnell’s 63rd birthday came days after she shocked her fans by revealing that she had fled the country because of her longtime nemesis Trump. Indeed, it was clear that Trump finally got the best of O’Donnell once and for all after living in her head rent-free for years.

“I’m here in Ireland, and it’s beautiful and warm – not physically, it’s actually quite cold,” O’Donnell said in a video posted to TikTok on March 11, 2025. “Moved here on Jan. 15, and it’s been pretty wonderful, I have to say.”

“Although I was never someone who thought I would move to another country, that’s what I decided would be the best for myself and my 12-year-old child,” O’Donnell later added. “It’s been heartbreaking to see what’s happening politically and hard for me personally, as well. The personal is political, as we all know.”

O’Donnell went on to indicate that she might actually have some regrets about this move.

“I miss my other kids, I miss my friends,” she lamented. “I miss many things about life there at home. And I’m trying to find a home here in this beautiful country.”

O’Donnell Comes Crawling Back

O’Donnell can pretend to love her new home in Ireland all that she wants to, but it’s become clear that she actually misses all that America has to offer. Indeed, last month, O’Donnell quietly came crawling back to America.

“I was recently went home for two weeks and I did not really tell anyone, I just went to see my family,” O’Donnell said at the time. She added that she “wanted to see how hard it would be for me to get in and out of the country. I wanted to feel what it felt like.”

“I wanted to hold my children again,” the mother of five continued. “And I hadn’t been home in over a year. I also wanted to make sure that it was safe for me before I brought my daughter this summer, where we plan to spend the summertime off from her schooling here with my family.”

O’Donnell could not help but admit that she was “very excited to be home.” It looks like America isn’t so bad after all, huh Rosie? Go figure!

At this point, it’s clear that O’Donnell is just trying to save face when it comes to her move to Ireland. Sadly, none of us should be surprised if the newly-turned 64 year-old relocates back to America permanently very soon.

Good riddance, Rosie O’Donnell!
