Rory Feek’s Daughter Turns On Him After Learning He’s Not Her Biological Father – Their Relationship Is ‘Broken’

The country music star Rory Feek’s daughter Hopie Feek has publicly turned on him after finding out that he’s not actually her biological father.

Hopie Learns The Truth

Hopie, 36, revealed earlier this month that her actual father is someone she’s calling BC. This came as a shock to many. Indeed, Rory, 59, raised Hopie and her older sister Heidi, 38, after divorcing their mother.

Rory publicly responded to this shocking, public twist in a blog post. He admitted that he had long suspected that Hopie was not his biological daughter. In fact, he’d voiced his suspicions to Hopie’s doctor immediately after she was born. At the time, Rory had just returned home from a six-month deployment with the Marines.

Hopie didn’t take this blog post well. She told People Magazine that when she went to Rory to show him the DNA test confirming that she’s not his biological child, she thought their conversation would stay “private and sincere.” Instead, he shared intimate details about it with the world in his post, much to Hopie’s dismay.

“In his post he managed to call my mom a liar and made it seem like she didn’t want to be in our lives. It was also hurtful that he said he was ‘frustrated’ when he found out I was going to be born,” she said. “Like I was always unwanted…I tried to be as upbeat as possible in my announcement, hoping to find a positive path through this difficult situation.”

Rory’s Post

Rory wrote in his post that he’d directly asked Hopie’s mother, Tamara Gilmer, if Hopie was his. At the time, Tamara assured him that she was. He also talked about how stressed he was when he found out Tamara was pregnant with Hopie, as their marriage was already on the rocks.

“I shared with [Hopie] my memory of coming back… and how me and her mom weren’t doing well, and when soon after, we found out that she was pregnant, how frustrating it was,” Rory wrote.

“How it was a difficult time to add another child to the mix, when our marriage was a mess and we were already struggling,” he continued. “And I shared how that next September I was in the hospital room on the day she was born and how special it was.”

Hopie And Rory’s ‘Broken’ Relationship

Hopie went on to say that her relationship with Rory is “broken.” However, in her mind, the reason behind their strained relationship has nothing to do with a DNA test.

“My relationship with my dad is broken. Not because of this new revelation, but because he refuses to go to family therapy,” she explained. “Him taking the two most vulnerable conversations of my life (coming out to him, and telling him we’re not biologically related) and publishing them to the world, is something we need a professional to help us navigate.”

Hopie previously took to Instagram to say that she found Rory’s blog post to be “extremely disappointing.” She also said that she’d specifically asked him to “be kind and not shame” her mother. 

“From now on, I just wish my stories could be my own to tell and share,” she wrote. “I want to move forward and find happiness with the people who love me, far away from this online hate.”
