It’s been three and a half years since Queen Elizabeth passed away at the age of 96. She is still missed by millions around the world to this day.
Now, insiders are claiming that the Queen saw right through Meghan Markle, the wife of her grandson Prince Harry from the very beginning. Indeed, according to these sources, the Queen “detected narcissistic behavior on the part of Meghan.” She allegedly saw this after efforts to set the American actress up for success were “torn up.”
The Queen Saw Through Meghan
Sources told this to the royal author Robert Hardman for his new book “Elizabeth II.” When one insider was asked about the Queen’s relationship with Meghan, the source replied, “The Queen had seen plenty of narcissists in her life.”
“A lot of people around the Queen thought the Queen thought Megan was, by the end, showing narcissistic tendencies,” Hardman told Newsweek.
Hardman went on to say that “the Queen was famously good at concealing her true thoughts.” However, those in the Queen’s inner circle eventually became convinced that the monarch saw Meghan as a narcissist.
The Queen Tried To Set Meghan Up For Success
Hardman pointed out that the Queen took great care to give Meghan patronages that would mean something to her. These patronages included the National Theatre, which was a nod to her past career as an actress.
However, Hardman added that these efforts to set Meghan up for royal success “were initially embraced by the [Sussexes] and then just sort of torn up.”
“It was at first baffling, then frustrating, and then ultimately, in the end, those around the Queen felt that she felt she had been let down by both of them, but certainly detected narcissistic behavior on the part of Meghan,” he continued.
Hardman then emphasized that the Queen’s belief that Meghan was a narcissist did not develop until “after things had blown up.”
“Early on she was actually delighted [with Meghan]. Don’t forget the Queen was sort of bending all the rules to welcome Meghan into the fold,” he stated. “You used to not take your girlfriend or even then-fiancee to stay at royal events until you were married and all this sort of thing. Those sort of rules went out of the window.”
Meghan And Harry Ditch Royals
Meghan, 44, and Harry, 41, stepped down as senior royals in January of 2020. They then moved across the world to Southern California, where Meghan was born and raised.
In March of 2021, Meghan and Harry gave an explosive tell-all interview to Oprah Winfrey. Buckingham Palace sources told Hardman that this choice of interviewer indicated that Meghan had been planning to speak out for years, as Oprah had attended their 2018 wedding.
“The business of having Oprah at the wedding now made sense,” said one senior aide. “The Queen had initially been very sympathetic to Meghan and her family problems.”
“I think she saw similarities between Meghan and the young Philip and his chaotic family. But it was now starting to look like the move to California had been a plan all along,” the aide added. “The Queen had seen plenty of narcissists in her life.”
The reference to “family problems” is likely a nod to Meghan’s estrangement from her father Thomas Markle. She’s also estranged from her two older half-siblings on the Markle side of her family. Indeed, Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland was the only immediate family member of hers to attend her wedding.
The Queen sadly passed away in September of 2022 at the age of 96. It’s sad that she had to spend her final years contending with the stress caused by Meghan and Harry.
In the end, we can certainly see why the Queen may have thought that Meghan was a narcissist.
Good riddance to you, Meghan Markle!
