Last month, we reported that the Hollywood stars Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson were dating after falling for one another on the set of their new movie The Naked Gun.

Then, last week, shocking new reports alleged that Anderson, 58, and Neeson, 73, had faked this romance just to boost interest in their film. Now, Anderson is firing back at these claims in a big way.

Anderson Defends Neeson Romance

On Friday night, Anderson made an appearance at the 51st Deauville American Film Festival in Deauville, France. There, she received the festival’s Deauville Talent Award on its opening night.

In her acceptance speech, Anderson took the opportunity to attempt to shoot down allegations that her romance with Neeson was fake.

“I do not and will never feed into PR stunts,” Anderson said onstage. “That would be a death sentence. I’m authentically driven. I’m superstitious when it comes to love. And I’m not comfortable sharing any shred of my romantic life.”

“I know I’ll fall in love again and again on screen. That is my job,” she continued. “If we do it well, you will feel it, a kind of projection. It is the greatest compliment. So please think positive. And I appreciate your good wishes. There are no silly games being played. I’m sincere.”

“Do not mistake my kindness for weakness or my boldness for bitterness,” Anderson concluded. “I’m here on this journey, not for money or for fame, but to see what I’m made of in truth, hard work and to leave behind an honest legacy my family can be proud of.”

Was Anderson And Neeson’s Romance Real?

This comes after insiders claimed that Anderson and Neeson’s romance was nothing more than a “marketing” stunt. This came as a huge disappointment to fans that were captivated by their alleged romance over the summer as they promoted The Naked Gun on a whirlwind press tour.

“Their chemistry was real on camera, but off? It was strictly business,” one source close to the film told Rob Shuter’s #Shuterscoop. “Pamela Anderson is a pro, Liam Neeson is a pro — they knew leaning into the rumors would get attention.”

Indeed, it worked like a charm. In the lead-up to The Naked Gun’s August 1 premiere, Neeson and Anderson gushed over each other in joint interviews. Neeson even claimed to be “madly in love” with Anderson as she giggled beside him on the TODAY show.

Once the movie actually came out, however, the fairy tale was over. There were no more joint interviews, and no more sightings of Neeson and Anderson together. The pair never even acknowledged their supposed relationship on social media.

“That’s because there was never a relationship to begin with,” another insider explained. “It was clever marketing. People want to believe in romance, and Hollywood knows love stories move tickets.”

‘It Was About Box Office Buzz…’

Industry veterans were neither surprised nor put off by this stunt.

“This wasn’t about Pam finding love or Liam moving on,” said one studio exec. “It was about box office buzz. Plain and simple.”

Insiders have claimed to TMZ that Anderson and Neeson never even saw one another a single time between when filming wrapped in June of 2024 and the press tour began over a year later in July of 2025.

According to these sources, Anderson and Neeson have also never had a dinner together one-on-one. Instead, their agents and teams have always been with them when they’ve dined together.

Anderson And Neeson Sources Weigh In

Despite this, sources close to Anderson and Neeson have continued to insist that their romance was real.

“Everything between them has been genuine. Neither would ever take part in a publicity stunt,” a source close to The Naked Gun told People Magazine. “They have a great time. Neither of them needs the publicity.”

“Their relationship isn’t just for show,” another insider added. “They have a real connection. There’s no incentive for either of them to stage something like this.”

Whether Anderson and Neeson’s romance was real or not, it certainly seems to be over now. Anderson can deny that it was a stunt all along all that she wants to, but it appears that most fans do indeed believe that it wasn’t ever real. Sad!
