The country music star Morgan Wallen shocked his fans by stopping a concert on Friday night to flip a piano in a massive onstage meltdown.

Wallen Flips Piano

Wallen, 33, was performing at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, Colorado on the night of May 29. All was going well until technical difficulties occurred while Wallen was performing his song “Sand in My Boots.”

Video that has since gone viral shows Wallen beginning to get frustrated as he attempted to sing his song. He eventually became so angry that he flipped the piano over, seemingly breaking the instrument as some pieces could be seen coming off of it.

The audience could be heard gasping in response to this surprising moment. Check it out for yourself in the video below.

Wallen’s Meltdown Gets Mixed Responses

According to Rolling Stone, the technical issue was that Wallen could not hear the piano as he played it. He reportedly ended up finishing his song by performing it acapella.

Wallen breaking the piano has drawn mixed reactions on social media. Some were openly disturbed by the country music star’s behavior.

“I love his music but come on. Glad he didn’t hit anyone with it. Geez. that’s professional and mature,” one social media user sarcastically commented. Another added, “Stop and think many people would love to have that piano.”

“lol embarrassing,” a third user commented.

Others, however, could understand Wallen’s frustration.

“Rockstars break instruments on stage all the time. Smashing guitars and stuff. Go off, Morgan!” one Wallen fan wrote. Another commented, “Paying to have your instruments professionally set up and they don’t work is a valid crash out.”

“Flip it again. HE DONT NEED NO PIANO. He CAN sing!” a third Wallen fan stated.

People Magazine has reached out to Wallen’s representatives. At the time of this writing, however, Wallen and his team have offered no comment on the meltdown.

Wallen’s Tour

Wallen is currently in the middle of his Still the Problem tour. This tour is meant to support his latest album, I’m the Problem.

The tour began in April 10 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is set to last for the next few months, with Wallen making stops in major cities like Las Vegas, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh and Chicago. The tour is set to end on August 1 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Wallen will have various opening acts throughout this tour. These acts include: Brooks & DunnHARDY, Ella Langley, Thomas Rhett, Gavin Adcock, Flatland Cavalry, Hudson Westbrook, Jason Scott & The High Heat, Zach John King, Vincent Mason and Blake Whiten.

Wallen’s Previous Arrest

This isn’t the first time that Wallen has had a public meltdown. In April of 2024, he was arrested after he infamously hurled a chair off the roof of a bar in Nashville, Tennessee. Luckily, nobody was injured. However, the chair landed just feet away from two Metro Nashville police officers.

Wallen later pled guilty to two misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment. He was then sentenced to seven days at a DUI education center, as well as two years’ probation. On top of that, Wallen had to pay a $350 fine and court fees.

We can certainly understand that it would be frustrating to deal with technical difficulties while performing onstage in the middle of a concert. However, given his history, perhaps Wallen should think twice before damaging a massive instrument like a piano in this way.

Here’s hoping that Wallen can figure out what went wrong here technically, and resume his tour with no further meltdowns of this kind!
