The former President Bill Clinton is likely in full panic mode right now. Indeed, after decades of largely staying silent about her famous affair with him, his former White House intern Monica Lewinsky is finally speaking out to publicly bash him.

In a new interview, Lewinsky, 51, has gone so far as to say that Clinton, 78, should have resigned from the presidency after their affair was exposed to the world.

Lewinsky Is Out To ‘Reclaim Her Narrative’

Earlier this year, Lewinsky launched her new podcast Reclaiming With Monica Lewinsky. It’s since become a huge hit, with episodes regularly garnering hundreds of thousands of views.

This podcast has garnered a renewed interest in Lewinsky, who has made it clear that she’s on a mission to “reclaim her narrative.” On Monday, she spoke out about this while appearing at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. There, she spoke at an event that was titled “Reclaiming and Reframing: Moving your narrative forward.”

Lewinsky was joined for this talk by CEO of media company The Female Quotient Shelley Zalis, and Jen Sargent, the CEO of podcast network Wondery. The former White House intern looked incredibly stylish and confident as she took the stage wearing a colorful printed sundress.

This appearance showcased the 180 that Lewinsky’s image has taken in the eyes of the public in recent years. Indeed, it appears that the public is far more sympathetic toward her plight than they ever were in the past. In contrast, support for Clinton in this situation is plummeting.

Lewinsky ‘Lost Her Future’

This comes after Lewinsky appeared on the hugely popular Call Her Daddy podcast. There, she opened up about how she “lost her future” in the wake of her affair with Clinton.

Host Alex Cooper began by addressing the affair, saying, “You were 22 years old, he was 49, you were an intern. he was the president of the United States.”

“I was very quickly painted as a stalker, mentally unstable, not attractive enough,” Lewinsky recalled.

Decades later, Lewinsky realizes the mistakes that she made.

“Because of the power dynamics, and the power differential, I never should’ve been in that position,” she said. “There was so much collateral damage for women  of my generation to watch a young woman to be pilloried on the world stage, to be torn apart for my sexuality, for my mistakes, for my everything.”

It took Lewinsky years to realize how much she had truly lost from this ordeal.

“I was in my early 30s, I had nothing,” she recounted. “That was the point when I realized how much had been taken from me. I lost my future.”

Lewinsky Torches Clinton

Lewinsky went on to shift her attention to Clinton himself. She made it clear that she feels that he handled their situation extremely poorly. Lewinsky also believes that he hung her out to dry.

“I think the right way to handle a situation like that would have been to probably say it was nobody’s business and to resign,” she stated.

“Or, to find a way of staying in office that was not lying and not throwing a young person that was just starting out in the world under the bus,” Lewinsky added.

Lewinsky Struggles With Dating

Meanwhile, Lewinsky admitted to Cooper that in the wake of her Clinton affair, dating has been difficult at times. She confessed that when she does date, it’s typically through being set up by friends. Given her history, Lewinsky has avoided venturing onto dating apps.

“I’m not on the apps,” she explained. “I am like, I can’t. I’m going to be catfished. I am so gullible. I think it’s a level of trust that is just not quite there yet.”

That being said, Lewinsky has still had some private romances over the years.

“I date,” Lewinsky told Rolling Stone back in February. “I have relationships, situationships, all the things. I’ve had connections with some extraordinary men.”

“I’ve been really lucky,” she continued. “Not lucky enough that it’s been with someone where it’s worked out at the right time. It just hasn’t.”

Lewinsky has never been married. It appears that she’s currently single.

Whether you like Lewinsky or not, it can’t be denied that she was an extremely young woman who found herself in an impossible situation with the most powerful man in the world. In the end, it’s hard to disagree with Lewinsky’s critiques of Clinton and his handling of their affair fallout.

It’s nice to see that Lewinsky’s efforts to “reclaim her narrative” appear to have been a success so far. Keep up the good work, Monica Lewinsky!
