Rumors are swirling that Meryl Streep, 75, has found love again with her Only Murders In The Building co-star, the legendary comedian Martin Short, 74.
Streep And Short Share Dinner Date
Streep and Short fueled these rumors on Wednesday night, when they were spotted enjoying a cozy dinner date at the celebrity hot spot Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica, California.
The three-time Oscar-winning actress sported a simple look for the meal. She was wearing navy pants, a blue and white top and beige slippers. Meanwhile, Short wore a grey suit and white button up shirt over a black T-shirt.

The rumors about Streep and Short potentially dating started in January of this year, when they were seen playfully bantering with one another on the red carpet at the Golden Globe Awards. Short’s rep denied the rumors at the time, telling E! News that they were “just very good friends, nothing more.”
However, Streep and Short were later seen holding hands at the afterparty of the season four premiere of Only Murders In The Building. Last month, Short made sure to sit next to Streep at the Emmy Awards.

“It’s been a friendship that always grows,” Short told Extra back in August, “if you work with someone and love that person.”
Streep And Short’s Co-Stars Speak Out
Short described getting to work with Streep as being “one of the great thrills of my life.”
“The first day of shooting,” he recalled, “which was rare because I’m not brand new, I was driving to work and I thought, ‘I’m nervous today. I’m working with Meryl Streep.’”
“It’s so sweet,” Short and Streep’s co-star Selena Gomez, 32, chimed in to add.
Meanwhile, their co-star Steve Martin opened up about how much he also adores Streep.
“Meryl is a friend to all of us,” said Martin, 79. “If I don’t see her for two years, you get back together and you’re already laughing and talking.”

Streep And Short’s Romantic Histories
Fans were stunned in October of 2023 when Streep revealed that she’s been separated from her husband Don Gummer for six years. They had been married since 1978 and had four children together.
“Don Gummer and Meryl Streep have been separated for more than 6 years, and while they will always care for each other, they have chosen lives apart,” Streep’s rep told People Magazine at the time.
As for Short, he was married to Nancy Dolman from 1982 until 2010, when she died of ovarian cancer at the age of 58.
“Our marriage was a triumph,” Short told AARP Magazine in 2019. “In our 36 years together we became so intimately familiar with the workings of each other’s minds.”
“I still communicate with her all the time. It’s ‘Hey Nan,’ you know?” he continued. “How would she react to this decision or that, especially regarding our three kids. … So to me, she’s still here.”
In his 2015 memoir “I Must Say: My Life As a Humble Comedy Legend,” Short wrote about his connection to Dolman.
“I’m still very much married to Nancy,” he explained. “So some night, when I’m really missing her, I’ll grab a rum and Coke at twilight and sit on the couch on our front porch, or perhaps upstairs, on the balcony off of our bedroom, with the Pacific Ocean in view. I’ll call out, ‘Hey, Nan’! Forming the words just feels good in the throat.”
It’s nice to see that Streep and Short may have found love again with one another. Only time will tell if they ever go public about their potential relationship!
