The world is still in shock over the assassination of the conservative activist Charlie Kirk. He was tragically shot dead on Wednesday while speaking at Utah Valley University. Kirk was only 31 years-old. At the time of this writing, his killer is still on the loose, with a manhunt currently underway.
Now, video is going viral showing conservative commentator Megyn Kelly learn of Kirk’s death live on air. Kelly, 54, could not help but break down in tears as she told her audience that “Charlie has died.”
‘Charlie Has Died’
One hour and 18 minutes into her stream, Kelly became emotional as she reported that Kirk had died. After seeing a graphic viral video of the shooting, it was clear that nobody could have survived it. Kelly revealed Kirk’s death as she spoke with Glenn Beck, CEO of Blaze Media.
“They’re reporting that Charlie has died,” Kelly said as she fought back tears. “That he’s dead at the age of 31, which he would have to be if that video was real.”
Beck also broke down in tears as he learned of Kirk’s passing.
“There’s no way he survived that,” Beck said. “The only good thing is: It had to have happened quickly.”
Kelly agreed, saying, “If you see the video, you do not see any suffering. He appears to have been spared the horrific moments after.”

Kelly Sounds Off
Later in her stream, Kelly compared this shooting to the 1963 assassination of then-President John F. Kennedy.
“It looked like when JFK was assassinated,” she lamented, referring to video of Kirk’s shooting. “The violence with which he keeled back, was hit, the thrust of it. It was very clearly a direct hit, it was obviously, I don’t know, some sort of a rifle or shotgun. It had severe velocity.”
Kelly went on to express her sympathy for Kirk’s wife Erika, who he married in 2021, and for their two young children. They were parents to a 3 year-old daughter and a 16 month-old son.
“His children have lost their father,” Kelly said. “Erika’s lost her love. And we have lost one of the most important voices that we’ve had in my lifetime on the right. One of the most important messengers. Someone sent by God to change minds and hearts on the most important, divisive, difficult issues of our time.”
Kirk was only 18 years-old when he founded Turning Point USA back in 2012. This is a conservative organization that is popular on college campuses around the country. Kirk was known for playing a huge role in mobilizing young voters to vote for Donald Trump in last year’s presidential election.
“One of the reasons why we got Trump is Charlie Kirk,” Kelly said. “We all play our part in some small way, but there is no denying the effect Charlie Kirk had on this election.”
Kelly Believes Kirk Would Have Become President
Kelly also expressed her belief that Kirk was on the trajectory to be president of the United States someday.
“My kids are very jarred by this,” Kelly stated. “I was like … when I’m close to 80, Charlie will be president, or he will have already served two terms as president. He was on that trajectory,”
Towards the end of her stream, Kelly broke down once again as she read a statement confirming Kirk’s death from Turning Point COO Justin Streiff.
“I am so sorry to be bringing this news,” a visibly emotional Kelly said after reading the statement. “I am so sorry. I’m sorry for what it means for our country, for Charlie, poor, dear Charlie and his family. I’m sorry for what it’s gonna mean for the debates that we have yet to have, that he would have won. He would have put everyone to shame, as he had been. And I’m angry, really [expletive] angry, about how this happened, why this happened.”
What happened to Kirk is nothing short of horrifying, and should be universally condemned regardless of politics. Please join us in saying a prayer for Kirk’s family and friends.
Rest in peace, Charlie Kirk.
