Meghan Markle has just suffered yet another humiliating blow in the public eye. According to insiders, this blow is so bad that it has her turning on her husband Prince Harry in a way that she never has before.
Meghan’s Popularity Plummets In 2026
Meghan, 44, has been desperately trying to build her brand over the past few years. That’s why the results of a new YouGov America poll out last week, however, have to have come as very bad news to her. Indeed, according to this poll, Meghan’s popularity has rapidly been declining since 2025.
At this time last year, 37% voters were in favor of Meghan. While even that’s not a great approval rating, it’s only gotten worse for Meghan since then. One year later, just 29% of voters said that they support Meghan.
Ouch, that has got to hurt!
Making this poll even more embarrassing is the fact that it was voted on by Meghan’s fellow Americans. She has long tried to claim that her unpopularity stems mostly from the British people’s supposed unwillingness to accept her. This poll, however, indicates that even those from Meghan’s home country have a negative view of her.
On top of all that, traffic to Meghan’s As Ever brand’s website fell by a staggering 89,000 in the U.S. in January, according to Newsweek.
Insiders say that all of this has sent Meghan into full panic mode.
“Meghan can ignore a lot of criticism; she’s usually extremely resilient, but this is coming from a pretty legitimate source, so it’s very hard to ignore this kind of critique,” one insider told Closer. “It’s beyond demoralizing. She’s put so much effort into her brand over the last couple of years; to get this kind of lackluster response is a very painful reality for her to face.”
Alleged Tensions In Meghan And Harry’s Marriage
The stress has also allegedly led to tensions in the marriage of Meghan and Harry, 41. Over the past year, the two of them have noticeably been increasingly pursuing very different career paths.
Harry has thrown himself into his charity work, which was his focus during his time as a working royal. While admirable, however, it’s not a lucrative one, and it has left Meghan as “basically the breadwinner” for their family. As the tensions rise, some sources are claiming that Meghan is blaming Harry for the drop in popularity that they have been suffering.
“If things were going well and she was hitting all the financial goals she has for the business there’d be no issue with what Harry is, or isn’t, contributing as far as sharing the burden,” the insider alleged. “But things are not going as planned and that tends to breed resentment, especially when the fact is, he’s not carrying near the same burden or workload as she is.”
Meghan Wants Harry To ‘Pull His Head Out’
The source went on to claim that Meghan is urging Harry to “pull his head out” and accept that their popularity will only continue to plummet if he doesn’t start actively promoting the Sussex brand.
“[Meghan] would love to see him equally invested in building their brand, instead of just passively writing it off as being ‘too Hollywood’ for him. To her, that’s a cop out,” the insider continued. “She’s complained that he acts as though he’s above it all, when in reality they can’t afford to be above it. In her view, this poll and the dismal numbers prove that. She wants Harry to pull his head out of the sand and start taking this seriously.”
Before marrying Harry, Meghan devoted her life to trying to make it in entertainment as an actress. She even starred on the cable TV drama Suits from 2011-2018.
“It’s got to be pretty insulting to her [Meghan] that he’s so snobbish about the entertainment industry now since that is her world and it’s paying the bills,” the source stated. “She thinks he needs to stop looking down his nose at it and start embracing the reality of the life they’ve built together.”
“She feels he’s far more interested in spending time with friends watching polo or working on his philanthropy than he is on focusing on things that can directly move the needle financially,” the insider added. “Right now all he seems to care about is getting his summer schedule arranged, with plenty of time for fun and leisure.”
Meghan Believes Harry’s ‘Naive’
As for Harry, he doesn’t seem interested in catering to Meghan’s demands. Instead, he allegedly thinks that they should stand defiant against the court of public appearance. Meghan, however, knows that such a move could come with serious financial consequences.
“His attitude is that no matter what they do, some people are going to dislike them, so there’s no point making themselves miserable chasing universal approval,” the insider said. “To her though that’s just a naïve view that doesn’t recognise the connection between public approval and their bank balance.”
“She’s not chasing this for validation or because she needs to feel popular, she’s doing this because their level of popularity with the general public translates directly in the revenue they can make,” the source concluded. “It’s about maintaining their lifestyle and paying the bills and he’s acting as though she should just float above it, which has got to be infuriating when they have thousands due in bills every single month.”
It’s been six years since Meghan and Harry stepped down as senior royals. They then moved across the world to Southern California, where Meghan was born and raised. Though they had high ups when they made this move, the successes of Meghan and Harry have been few and far between in the years since then.
Only time will tell if Meghan and Harry’s marriage will actually survive.
