Yesterday, Meghan Markle desperately tried to launch her Netflix comeback today. Indeed, season two of her show With Love, Meghan dropped on Netflix on Tuesday, August 26.

Unfortunately for Meghan, however, this is already blowing up in her face. Much to the wife of Prince Harry’s dismay With Love, Meghan season two is being universally panned by critics.

Critics Weigh In

With Love, Meghan season two consists of eight episodes, and they all dropped on Tuesday. The lifestyle series follows the same format as season one, showing Meghan share various tips and tricks for hosting at home. Joining her for season two were celebrity friends like Chrissy Teigen, Tan France, Jay Shetty and more.

Within hours of the episodes dropping, however, With Love, Meghan season two was being mercilessly mocked by critics who described it as being “tone deaf” and “self-indulgent.”

The Telegraph labeled the second season of Meghan’s show as being “needy.” The review added that the new episodes were only “marginally less mad” than the first season.

“It’s more of the same,” wrote the Telegraph’s Anita Singh. “But this time there is an urgent question to be asked: has she got Harry locked in the pantry?”

“Because while these eight episodes are stuffed with mentions of Harry, the man himself is nowhere to be seen, which looks increasingly weird in a show based on the couple’s Californian home life,” she continued.

Singh went on to lament that “too many” of Meghan’s on-screen conversations “seem calculated.”

“‘What does this say about me?’ ‘Am I dropping in just enough detail about Archie and Lili to satisfy the audience?’” Singh added. “The closing credits play out to the lyrics ‘don’t let it be the last time.’ Please, let it be the last time.”

Ouch, that has got to sting for Meghan!

More Critics Rip Meghan’s Show

The reviews only got worse from there.

The Times of London reported that With Love, Meghan season two is “a series in search of a meaning, fronted by a woman in need of some cash.”

“Seven more episodes to go. Save yourselves. Don’t do it. I sinned in a past life, so I’ll get back to you,” wrote the Times of London’s Hilary Rose. She went so far as to urge her readers to “start therapy now” because this “baffling” series occupies “the sweet spot where irrelevant meets intolerable.” In the end, it made Rose “rock back and forth in a darkened room.”

Meanwhile, The Sun’s Royal Editor, Matt Wilkinson described the series as “self-indulgent.”

“Markle’s second series of her self-indulgent Netflix show With Love, Meghan has hit TV screens — with more nauseating clips of her gushing over simple foods,” he wrote.

Finally, The Guardian reported that the latest episodes of were “so painfully contrived.”

“It’s so boring, so contrived, so effortfully whimsical that, do you know what? In the end, it does become almost fascinating,” wrote The Guardian’s Lucy Mangan.

Meghan Desperate For Netflix Comeback After ‘Downgrade’

This is particularly bad for Meghan, as she was depending on these episodes being a hit. This comes two weeks after Netflix downgraded Meghan and Harry from their $100 million contract to a far more modest “first look” deal.

Meghan and Harry had signed their $100 million Netflix contract back in 2020 after they stepped down as senior royals. That deal is set to expire next month.

On August 11, Netflix announced that it will not be renewing Meghan and Harry’s $100 million contract. Instead, Netflix has given them a “multi-year, first look deal for film and television projects.” This “downgrade” is the same one that Netflix gave to Barack and Michelle Obama.

“In practice, it is a downgrade from the 2020 overall deal that birthed Harry & MeghanPolo and With Love, Meghan, among other projects,” The Hollywood Reporter reported.

“The overall-to-first-look extension mirrors the move Netflix made recently with the Obamas — as well as others — for their Higher Ground banner,” the publication continued. “In both cases, the exclusivity carried by their respective, splashy original deals has been removed.”

Meghan And Harry’s Netflix Flops

Meghan and Harry’s downgrade came after multiple projects of their’s flopped for Netflix. One of these projects was season one of With Love Meghan, which didn’t even crack the top 300 most viewed Netflix shows for the first half of 2025. Instead, it came in at a humiliating 383. Making matters even worse, their docuseries Polo, which was Harry’s passion project, currently ranks 3,436 out of around 7,000 shows on Netflix.

“They have shot the golden goose of 2020 – more of a ‘we’ll call you’ than ‘here’s the checkbook,'” leading publicist Mark Borkowski told Daily Mail. “It’s a first-look deal, which means Netflix gets first dibs but no obligation to bankroll every semi-royal whim.”

“I reckon Netflix is trimming fat industry-wide, so this is less carte blanche, more curated cameo,” he added. “They’re still in business together. Meghan’s As ever brand and seasonal specials keep them in the Netflix shop window but make no mistake, this is a slimmed-down sequel to the blockbuster original. So Harry and Meghan’s new Netflix chapter is less champagne budget, more Prosecco by the glass.”

Meghan was hoping that With Love, Meghan season two would be her Netflix comeback. Indeed, she was counting on the episodes hitting so big that the streaming service would realize their mistake in downgrading her. Instead, it seems that With Love, Meghan season two has only showed Netflix executives that they made the right call in demoting Meghan and Harry after all.

In the end, it appears that Meghan and Harry are becoming more and more irrelevant by the day. Sorry, Meghan, but it might be time to find another way to make money. The public simply has no interest in your content!
