Last week, we reported that Meghan Markle’s estranged father Thomas had his leg amputated in the Philippines.
Now, experts are advising Meghan to show some compassion for her father before it’s too late. Indeed, if for no other reason, they believe that she should do so for the sake of the wholesome brand that she is desperately trying to create for herself.
Meghan Is Told To Show ‘Compassion’
Meghan, 44, reportedly hasn’t spoken to her ailing 81 year-old father since right before her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry, 41. In the years since then, she’s been trying to rebrand herself as a wholesome, family-oriented person who can advise others on how to build the perfect home for themselves and their loved ones.
That’s why experts are urging Meghan to reestablish contact with her father in a time when he needs her love the most.
“Meghan has frantically tried to build a wholesome family-oriented brand in 2025,” Kinsey Schofield, host of YouTube’s Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered, told Fox News.
“It would be in her best interest to show her elderly father, who had just lost a limb, some compassion,” Schofield continued. “Otherwise, every time we see Meghan and Harry lovingly engage with wounded vets at Invictus, we will ask ourselves why they couldn’t show Meghan’s father the same compassion.”
“Right now, she is simultaneously promoting a holiday special centered on family,” she added. “At the very least, Thomas should be allowed to meet his grandchildren.”
Indeed, Meghan released her Netflix Christmas special on the very same day that Thomas was rushed to the hospital. Check out a trailer for that in the video below.
Thomas’ Leg Amputation
After being rushed to the hospital, Thomas underwent life-saving surgery the next day in a three-hour procedure. This resulted in his left leg being amputated below the knee after a blood clot cut off circulation and the limb turned black.
“We had to remove the foot. There was a massive blood clot in his thigh. And that had stopped circulation to his foot and lower leg,” his surgeon told Daily Mail. “It was life-or-death surgery. Had the infection in the foot moved to his heart, it would most likely have been fatal. He is doing well but he is not out of the woods yet.”
Afterwards, a spokesperson for Meghan claimed that she had finally reached out to her father. Thomas was “confused” by this, however, as he alleges that he still hadn’t heard a word from Meghan. The hospital was quick to corroborate his claim that Meghan had yet to make contact with him.
“Mr Markle is a VIP patient,” a hospital source stated. “Of course we all know who he is. If Meghan or anyone connected with her had called here we would have known. It is a big hospital by Filipino standards but we all know each other and we all talk.”
“We were all confused when we saw the story that the duchess had reached out to her dad,” this insider added. “As far as we are aware it didn’t happen. We would love to see the duchess here in the Philippines!”
Meghan Fires Back
Meghan’s camp responded to this by claiming that she’d sent her father an email days after his amputation. However, it’s since been alleged by Thomas’ other family members and friends that Meghan sent her message to an email address that he hasn’t used in at least five years.
This didn’t sit well with Meghan, whose spokesperson quickly fired back with another statement.
“Given that a Daily Mail reporter has remained at her father’s bedside throughout, broadcasting each interaction and breaching clear ethical boundaries, it has been exceedingly difficult for the Duchess to contact her father privately, despite her efforts over the past several days,” the spokesperson said.
“With the support of reliable and trusted contacts, her correspondence is now safely in his hands,” the representative continued.

Another Expert Weighs In
British royal expert Hilary Fordwich has since expressed her belief that Thomas has good reason to continue speaking out to the press.
“Thomas’s decision to speak out could be a result of his hurt feelings, as he’s repeatedly expressed being lonely and missing both his daughter and meeting his grandchildren,” Fordwich explained. “He wanted to meet Harry. He probably needs the money.”
“Regardless of what her father has done in recent years, he is still her father,” she added. “He raised her as best he could with clear devotion. Even a private, brief meeting would have been helpful.”
Fordwich concluded by saying that she doubts that “there’s a realistic prospect of a proper reconciliation, though [Meghan’s] brand of compassion and family values might benefit from it.”
Thomas has never met Harry, nor has he met his grandchildren Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 4. Only time will tell if Meghan takes the advice of these experts and shows her father some compassion. As of this writing, however, the chances of that are not looking good.
