Meghan Markle, the wife of Prince Harry, reportedly has no intention of “playing nice” with her mother-in-law Queen Camilla if she returns to the United Kingdom in the coming months.
Meghan’s Alleged Disdain Towards Camilla
Meghan, 44, reportedly still feels a great amount of animosity towards Camilla, 78. Meanwhile, Camilla reportedly resents Meghan for the way that she treated King Charles after she and Harry stepped down as senior royals six years ago.
It seems that Meghan and Camilla have reportedly not spoken in the years since then.
“Meghan is willing to be conciliatory and take the high road with a lot of people. But Camilla is a different story,” an insider told Radar Online.
“Meghan made a real effort with Camilla back when she was still living in the U.K. but she’s way past playing nice and kissing up to her, she has seen that gets her nowhere,” the source continued. “She’s not planning to start a scene. But she’s not going to pretend everything is fine and play nice with Camilla. If Camilla wants to keep playing dirty Meghan is ready to hit back.”
Camilla’s History With Meghan
Camilla initially appeared to be a fan of Meghan’s. After Meghan married Harry in 2018, the Queen famously gushed over her, saying that “America’s loss is our gain.” Indeed, it seems that Meghan and Camilla bonded over their mutual passion for yoga and fine wines.
However, by the time Meghan and Harry stepped down as senior royals in January of 2020, it seems that the bond between the two women had soured. Meghan angered Camilla that year by allegedly insisting that photographs of her at an art gallery were published the same day that the Queen made a public speech about domestic violence against women.
Things only escalated in 2023, when Harry accused “certain members of the family” of getting into bed “with the devil.” He claimed that they did this by “leaking but also planting” stories about Meghan in the press to “rehabilitate their image.”
Harry never revealed the family member that he was talking about. However, it was widely speculated that he was referring to his stepmother Camilla.
Meghan’s Vendetta Against Camilla
The insider went on to say that Meghan firmly believes that Camilla has been painting her in a negative light since “day one.”
“She’s convinced Camilla has been trying to undermine her and paint her as the villain from day one and she’s adamant that she won’t open herself up to more cruelty,” the source explained. “Meghan feels like Camilla has been out to get her for years, and some people within royal circles would agree.”
“She’s been so openly critical of Meghan within their inner circle from almost the very beginning,” the insider concluded. “It’s like she’s taken it upon herself to be the family attack dog and has said out loud what others might think but are too polite to actually articulate.”
Meghan has not set foot in England in nearly six years. Instead, she’s been living in her native California with her husband and their two children.
It’s been speculated that Meghan might be planning a potential return to the United Kingdom this summer. Should Meghan do that, Queen Camilla might want to start bracing herself now. In the end, it seems that there’s no love lost between these two!
