Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have found themselves being criticized once again this week. This time, they’re being blasted by their own neighbors in the ritzy area of Montecito, California.

Meghan And Harry Are ‘Local Villains’

Sources told Vanity Fair that since Meghan and Harry moved to Montecito in 2020, they have become “local villains.”

Indeed, their Montecito neighbors are annoyed that Meghan and Harry’s presence has brought more traffic to the normally quiet Santa Barbara area. They blame the couple for things like increased housing prices, busy streets, and more.

Meghan has additionally located American Riviera Orchard, her latest attempt at launching a business, in Montecito.

Some in the area are, shall we say, less than impressed.

“It’s such a kind of hucksterism,” said one resident. “It’s just finding every way she can to monetize something.

“I still think they’re the most entitled, disingenuous people on the planet,” the resident continued. “They moved away from England to get away from the scrutiny of the press, and all they do is try and get in the press in the United States.”

Does that seem just a tad harsh?

Harry Allegedly Has No Social Life

It’s been five years since Harry moved to California with his wife. However, he allegedly has no social life outside of her and their two children.

“[Meghan] was up front about the fact that Harry hadn’t made many friends yet,” claimed a source who has interacted with Meghan professionally.

Meghan and Harry shocked the world when they stepped down as senior royals in 2020. They then moved across that same world to Southern California, where Meghan was born and raised. Prior to her 2018 marriage to Harry, Meghan had spent years desperately trying to make it as an actress.

While she was eventually cast on the cable show Suits, Meghan never achieved the fame that she seemingly craved until she was linked to Harry.

Meghan And Harry’s Netflix, Spotify Deals

Months after moving to Montecito, Meghan and Harry scored a $100 million deal with Netflix. While their initial 2022 docuseries Harry & Meghan, was a hit, they have struggled to find success with the content they’ve put out in the years since. Most recently, their 2024 docuseries Polo was widely regarded as a flop.

“I think Harry doesn’t know what he wants because he grew up in a fishbowl, and so he doesn’t know what real life really is,” claimed one insider who worked on media projects with the couple. “I think he probably wants to be left alone and be able to go kiss babies every once in a while but not have to worry about money…I don’t think he wants to be famous the way Meghan wants to be famous.”

Meghan and Harry also signed a deal with Spotify once they moved to California. However, an employee who worked with them on this podcast deal lamented that they “didn’t do what celebrities do on podcasts, which is turn on the mic and talk. They wanted a big theme that would explain the world, but they had no ideas.”

“The thing you’re escaping is the reason you’re compelling,” this employee added.

Meghan and Harry’s partnership with Spotify ended in 2023.

It seems that all might not be well in the world of Meghan and Harry. With even their own neighbors turning on them, it will certainly be interesting to see where they go from here!
